Title: Done, I think
Post by: smilodon on March 02, 2009, 06:11:37 PM
Well that was about 100 times more bloody complicated than I thought it would be. But now you should be able to moderate the forums you asked for/were given or already look after and you should be able to see into this forum.

The reason for this moderators forum is to post whenever you actually moderate anything, so we can all see who is posting stuff that actually needs moderating. Hopefully there will be very little to post here as there really isn't that much that needs to be moderated on these forums.

Two things though.

First please read through the moderators guide and AUP above. The big bosses (Tealeaf and Oldbloke) have decided to relax the rules about posting to web sites, video clips etc which use strong language. We do not edit or delete them anymore. We DO expect to see a warning of the sort of content the post is linking to though.
We also now allow posts to images, videos etc that while maybe not 'work safe' are stuff you'd see on Page 3 of the Sun newspaper (topless girls for those of you not from the UK). Again we expect to see posters include a warning with there links etc. Pornography is still not accepted so we still dump those posts.

Second working though the forum permissions has been a small nightmare and I'm sure things are not all sorted yet. So please let me know if you cannot moderate in your chosen forums. I'm sure there are still bugs.

Thanks for you help chaps, it's all much appreciated.

Doorman, you're not allowed in here. Get out. :)

Consistency is what we need as well.

Last few changes are done. You 'should' be able to move threads and posts into Compost Corner a necessary. It's the policy on the forum not to delete posts but to move them, as this lets us see over time who might be posting stuff that we are having to moderate.

Cheers

something i have noticed smilo, nothing thats a big issue but thought i would mention it, when you generally post something, then realise you have put a spelling mistake in for example, then go to edit it, you make the correction then click save.  after you have done this your awards seem to disappear (athough if you go back to homepage then back to the post you have edited its fine), like i said its not a big issue, just wanted to make you aware mate.

Not seen that behaviour on the forums (and I do a lot of post-post-editing for spelling).  Which browser are you using?

It's happened to me too. It's just random and I think it only happens on the local machine you're on. As soon as you refresh or reload it's fixed.

Ive now tested out the issue across 3 browsers, firefox, IE and opera, and havent noticed the issue, so guessing is rather limited and very random..

Update: just edited this post and the badges disappered, tho still guessing its limited

Not seen it myself so it does look like a browser issue. It's not forum breaking so lets not worry about it.

Just editing and they're still there.

Ahh, when you hit save they go. Hit go advanced to edit and save and they are..... there.

Conclusion. It's the quick edit mode that affects this. The quick edit uses ajax so it'll be a combination of that.

It's cosmetic for you only, so I'm not going to try to fix it as no-one else sees them missing.

Aye, just tried an edit, and the badges disappeared, FF here.  Never noticed it before.
But then most of my edits are in Advanced as G mentioned.  They reappear on refresh or reload, so I am not too worried.
