We're doooooooooomed.
Wheres bruce willis when you need him?
I love the way he/she kept referring to Earth as 'our planet'. 72 times it was mentioned. I was so fixated by that I don't know what the article is about. Are we going to die? I mean. soon? Was all that forum work for nowt?
We can but hope.

I've looked in the my Penguin Book of Astronomy and I reckon we have a couple of years before we have to worry.

Oh boy, thanks BB!
What bothers me is it wasn't spotted till a few days before... plus no mention till after the event??!?!?
Even if a collision date was known I reckon the capitalist money makers would keep us grunts in the dark.
We've gotta die of something.....
when can also mean 2.000.000.000 years, I'm not planning on sticking around that long ...
still rather scary though that they only spotted it 2 days before, you would think with today's technology they would have somthing to detect it well before that :g:
You can imagine the 'headless chicken' syndrome kicking in if they tell the world 'You're all going to die on Thursday morning'. No one would pay their council tax, parking fines, take back library books, pay maintainence to ex wives. Crikey! Then where would we be?

Sounds fantastic! :norty:
We could turn up late for work even!

read a report by NASA a few months back, where they happily announced the worldwide now totally monitors 19% of the sky.. aint really much as its a big space out there..
i honestly cba to worry about it, as we probably wouldnt survive if a rock like the one in the Armageddon movie, were on impact course with earth, as i doubt a mission like armageddon one is possible anyways.. but sure looks good in movies... :)
If the earth goes boom, we wont feel a thing :D

Probably because it's all looking the wrong way trying to find Osama
If they ever announce an expected impact site I'd be the one heading towards it while everyone else is fleeing in the opposite direction.
My last words would be "WOW! Look at the tha ......." :D
Surround the earth with a big net, that'll catch the buggers, or even those sticky fly strips, that stuff catches everything - except fly's ofcourse...
nahh, just send up a load of red necks on the shuttle and let them handle it :roflmao:

wasnt that the plot of Armageddon the movie? bunch of drilling red necks with nukes?
I recently read something about dark rocks out there.... no ice and nothing to reflect sunlight thus they appear black.... and thats the thing about space, it too is very black and very big.
