Title: A3 Printers.
Post by: Toxteth on March 04, 2009, 03:26:26 PM
I'm looking to purchase an A3 Inkjet with a scanner, been looking at this one (http://www.pmctelecom.co.uk/shop/inkjet-multifunction-print-copy-fax-scan/brother-mfc-6490cw-a3--inkjet-multifunction-printer_mfc-6490cw/2061) but wondering if anyone knew or recommended any others and companies/sites to buy from.

Price range roughly £250, preferably less. :flirty:

Cheers.

Have had a bad experience with Brother printers in the past, had 2 MFC 3820C's over the past 4 years, each of them expired within 24 months. When I say "expired", they could have been resurrected but the cost would have been the same as buying a new one each time, something with the printer circuit boards, don't remember exactly what. The scanner, fax, card readers are still working in both of em. Just my personal opinion.

Thanks Browne, if I'm going to be spending my pocket change on a printer I want it to be very reliable.

Can anyone suggest some better brands?

Can't comment on Brother, but the scanners I have used and been rela happy with are Fujitsu, or if part of a scanner/printer package the Epson ones.  May not hit your budget though for an A3 scanner.

If you want quality and reliability HP is the only thing out there that actually will do the trick. I just replaced our HP small office Laser printer after nine years without one problem. I have nothing but high praise when it comes to HP printers on the Laser side. Epson is a good choice if you want an inkjet.

I gotta admit, i aint really a fan of HP's stuff as of late..

Currently we are swapping a insane amount of gear at work to HP stuff..
part of a large scale oursourcing at the IT maintenance plan.
we are talking about 600 new 24" flats, 500 laptops, and among that 6 new printers with the nice price of €10.000, sadly 5 of em had been returned to HP so far..
Might just be bad luck..

I used to a be big fan of HP, but aint really doing a awsome job atm..
their monitors are quite awsome tho

Ok lets bump this thread, I'm back in the Market!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Epson-Borderless-Printing-Individual-Cartridges/dp/B000MSU0QO/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1257978969&sr=8-6

This seems to be the best one for me at the moment, one of my mates has it and the quality is brillaint. The only issue is the ink is ridiculously expensive. My friend paid Ã,£80 for 6 cartridges, amazon have them on offer at the mo for Ã,£10 each so Ã,£60.

I was just wondering if anyone knew much about continuous ink systems and if they could give me any info on them?

It looks simple enough...

Cheers n' ta.

For the money your going to save i would buy one, i know a few people who have purchased similar products and swear by them. Selling branded cartridges is were the manufactures make their money, they are overpriced and with options like this why pay them?

You can't go wrong with Epson.
