A big update was released tonight for Left 4 Dead. No, this isn't the much desired DLC update, but it does pack in a great deal of fixes and changes.
QuoteVersus Mode Changes
Tank melee attack can now hit multiple Survivors in one swing
Fixed Tank punch being able to hit targets behind walls
Fixes to 'Tank parking'. The Tank will now run back and attack the Survivors if he becomes AI due to two players expiring the frustration meter
Fixed a case where a Tank frustration meter could run out right as he was in his death animation and he would come back to life
Fixed a case where the Tank was moving too slowly while crouching and being shot
Tanks now have the possibility of spawning in a slightly different position for the first and second teams
The order that the teams play as Survivors is now determined by which team has the higher overall score. The winning team will play as Survivors first
The Smoker tongue can now target and grab victims through common infected
Increased the cone in which a Smoker can grab a target.
Very small thing to download. Took less than 5 seconds. Go get it guys and girls.
Glad to see they worked a little on the smoker :D
Does this
The order that the teams play as Survivors is now determined by which team has the higher overall score. The winning team will play as Survivors first
mean it'll stop messing about with the teams between maps? :g:

Don't bet on it but in theory, yes it does. I like this because the losing team get to see what will happen on the next level first - seems fair.
at work tonight
but i cant wait to see what an increased smoker cone does
Looks good....missus out tonight, was going to watch 9 years worth of 24.....so, see you on the server then :)

Nothing like smoking a bigger cone!!
Hmm, mountain bike night so probably won't be on :(
Some nice changes indeed.
I had that once where I was the tank and couldn't get the people behind a locked door. The only thing I could do was hit a bot through a wall.
Will see about the smoker changes, don't like it when you are sure you should have hit someone but the tongue doesn't work properly.
Wont be on tonight but soon.
See you guys out there.

guessing they just increased the "crosshair" and the area within that where you hit people with the tongue
I'm not sure if it's because of the update but the L4D servers are not showing up as active in HLSW but you can still connect to them and play.
Good news about the smoker upgrades...number of times my tounge would go flacid before it got the job done was too high. Hopefully with this update I'll be able to use my tounge all night.
So who's up for some vomit and tongue action like...right now?
Was it just our teams superior game play or has the patch made it easier to knobble the Survivors? :g:
nah patch had nothing to do with it :) we were just good ;) nah kidding..
tho zombie damage seemed a little bit higher? or did we just play on higher difficulty?
on patch update, the smoker seems a lot better now, its not so bliping hard to hit with the tongue, much better now, and still balanced :D

Agreed, the only thing that i found a bit anoying was the fact that i sometimes tongued a survivor I wasn't aiming for, due to the bigger cone/hitbox.
well ye can be a little harder to hit the correct target, i kept trying to tongue people yday, but for some reason i kept licking whitey

I guess its the update. They have disappeared from the Steam Sidebar Gadget in Vista as well.
Valve, good and coding -> mutually exclusive words!
The March 12th update should fix the server browser issues.

Indeed. Strange.
I don't see anything strange with them. Looks fine.

I've got this problem.
In hlsw I can see that there's 4/8 on the server, but it's not showing me any details apart from yesterdays.
When I look at Kreg on steam, it shows he's playing in a game on Coldstore, but the server info isn't there.

Same here. It's obviously still broken as far as HLSW is concerned.
Their updates are messing with the Steam Vista Sidebar Gadget too.
LogMod 0.8.0.4 fixes HLDS Bug *UPDATE*
(st) As many of you may have noticed, all Half-Life game servers
are responding and displaying incorrect or outdated server status and server rules information since the Steam update of November 2008.
After some discussion (http://forum.hlsw.net/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1765) around this problem in our forums the error could be clearly located in the Half-Life dedicated server query protocol, which was caused by Valve when updating the query protocol in the update last November.
After notifying Valve about the issue and waiting for a fix for months now, we have implemented a workaround in our LogMod Plugin for the time being while still waiting for a proper bug fix on by Valve.
So with the new LogMod Version 0.8.0.4 (http://hlsw.org/?page=download&category=logmod)
this problem is now fixed and all server information and rules are being displayed correct and in time again. This version is available for x86 Linux systems at the moment only, x64 and windows versions will follow the next days.
Additionally we like to highlight the advanced features of LogMod again, which makes it possible for HLSW users to check user profiles on different gaming community sites like
ESL (http://www.esl.eu/) or the Steamcommunity (http://www.steamcommunity.com/) even without having Rcon access to a game server.
** UPDATE **
Now the windows version of logmod avaible.
Sorry but no, we don't use Logmod.
