Title: Dual Channel
Post by: Gone_Away on September 01, 2003, 12:43:35 AM
What's with all this DC stuff I keep reading about... and can I run PC2700 333 in DC mode? How? I read that the memory should be in slot one and three on your MB..

What the hell do I know anyway..

It is more a case of does your motherboard support dual channel mode for your RAM?  If it does then you will need 2 matched sticks of RAM stuck in the appropriate slots as per your motherboard manual.  All nForce2 mobos do this and some others are creeping in there too - so yes, you could run PC2700/333 in dual channel mode.

The aim of dual channel mode is to increase the memory bandwidth available to your CPU - theoretically you get almost double the bandwidth when dual channelling.

If you have a mobo that support dual channel, then remember to run the RAM in synchronous mode (ie 1:1, 2:2, 3:3 etc) otherwise you'll get asynchronous RAM performance, althought on some systems and in some cases this can actually be faster - wierd eh ;)
