Title: Mezzanine - Holy Priest (Warning: Wall of text ahead) - ACCEPTED ON TRIAL
Post by: Mezzanine on March 18, 2009, 11:10:41 PM
You

Who are you? Where are you from? How old are you? What kind of work do you do? What's your situation at home like?

Whoa, you start with an existential question... who am I (eye of the beholder, ey?)? Sometimes I would rather answer who I'd *like* to be, but oh well... My name is Nina, I'm 30 years and I live in the south of Sweden, pretty much as close to Denmark as you can get without losing the blue and yellow status. I'm an industrial hygienist/chemist at a pharmaceutical company, which basically means I'm filling my days with chemical exposure risk assessments, either occupational or environmental exposures. My situation at home is fine, thanks for asking. :) The cat says hi!

What kind of internet connection do you have?

Ethernet 10/10 Mbit

What are the core specs of your computer?

P4 2.6GHz
2 GB RAM

How long have you been playing computer games and what kind?

It all started when my brother bought a C64 in the 80s and beat me witless in Spy vs. Spy and some silly (grrr) athlete game. Later on he upgraded his computers quite often to Atari, Amiga, PC and generously let his little sister use the treasures if he was bribed with sweets and a variety of favours. Ah, I think I could still complete Giana Sisters without losing a single life. I have often considered putting that quality in my professional resume... To make a long story short, I was, and still am, a huge fan of adventure or platform games, may it be video games or PC games. I got a copy of WoW in my hands in March 2005 and thought it could be fun to try out for a week or two and here I am, four years later. Does anyone recognize the situation?

What kind of raiding experience do you have?

In the good old classic WoW days I would have described myself as a raiding fanatic. You know the kind who plays more than she works, drops everything she has at hand, including friends and job, to kill world spawns or lose lots of sleep due to exploration raids extended looong after general finishing time. When TBC hit, I had come to my senses and joined a guild which had less ambition to clear all content and proceeded in a much calmer pace. I think I saw Sunwell twice or maybe three times. When everything was nerfed just before WotLK, I lost interest and quit for some time. I'm playing for the thrill, not the easy kills. A friend of mine swapped servers to Aszune and I transfered ze priesty when WotLK was released to be able to play together from time to time. To be perfectly honest with you, I have barely raided with her in WotLK.

What other guilds have you been in and why did you decide or were forced to move on?

Hm. Now I'm not sure if I should mention guilds from my previous realm; I suppose that piece of information will be of little use to you. Anyhow, I went from a hardcore raiding guild to a semi-hardcore raiding guild mainly because I needed more time to take care of my social life and career. Then I changed servers and ended up in a small, but very friendly non-raiding guild, called Forty Seventh Chromosome. It sort of disbanded and I was guildless for some time. I have to say that my efforts to join a guild have been weak. I liked being independent. A tank tossed an invite to his guild after a hilarious pug run and I thought "what the heck" and joined. That's where I'm presently situated. They're sweet guys, especially that tank, but I can't seem to feel at home.

Do you actively play any alts that we could find you in in case we need to contact you?

M-hm, I got a warlock called Ladykatarina (don't laugh) and a DK called Molecule (yer, I'm a chemist geek).

What are your plans for the game?

In the end I have decided that WoW has to be there for me to kill time when I *have* time to kill. A fascinating hobby, not a life style. I can't quit, trust me, I have tried on several occasions. I got a new job since last November and it's a lot more time consuming that I could have ever anticipated and sometimes I have to be away from WoW for days. It's better to tell you the truth from the beginning, I think.

In what way would you like others to know you?

Quite competent, fun to be around and fairly reliable. I always do my best and I want them to trust me in that aspect. Then I screw up terribly from time to time. I also have had my moments when I don't move away from flames/tentacles/beams/poison clouds/younameit as well as do remarkably retarded, but exquisite, body pulls. I try to minimize the amounts though...

Tell us about your personality, and why you enjoy the game.

Oh, it's a wonderful, colourful chat program, isn't it. :) What makes me pathetically happy is when I find a group where skills are combined with a touch of comedy. Ambitions as well as a playful attitude. Love it. My personality is split, I kid you not. It really depends on the day you're asking me. One day I blush from shame when that annoying mage is pulling aggro for the x:th time and howls swearwords if I can't keep his squishy toon up despite my desperate efforts, and another day let him die out of spite and chuckles whilst painting my nails. Generally I'm quite nice.

Name one thing you don't like about WoW in its current state.

*Ponders* My beloved warlock, who used to be a mistress of shadows, is now a bringer of light, a fire lock... Makes me want to cry really.

Your character

Please link to your armory profile.

Service with a smile. (http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Aszune&n=Mezzanine)

Why did you decide to play this class?

Don't I come across as the born healer? :g: I got tired of dps racing and decided to hps race instead.

What do you think your class' role is in raid content?

I sure hope I would still contribute to keeping the group healthy, even though I do suspect that drood doods outheal me by far in the long run. Fortitude? Chocolate cakes?

Comment on your build. Why did you choose it? What do you think of other builds of your class? Why didn't you choose one of those? (important question)

Hm. First of all, I had a dpser and have never considered going shadow on my priesty. Ok, maybe for a brief moment, but I always came to my senses. Then it was a choice between deep holy or deep disc when I turned 80. I favour group healing before single target healing and went for holy. I'm a copycat, and I pretty much observe and repeat. Not so much a personally and empirically derived approach as a thieving one.

This guild

What do you look for in a guild?

Ohhh, the same as I am looking for in any group of people and what I wrote before. I want a relaxed environment with players I trust to do their job, but don't commit artificial suicide or starts sulking after an odd pull or a few casualties along the road.

''Dead Men Raiding'' - What comes to mind when you see that guild name?

The Green Mile. Every time.

There are other guilds on the server, why did you apply to us?

Someone is fishing for compliments... On a serious note, when I transfered to Aszune I had already scanned a few guilds. Yours was one of them. First of all I asked to join the same guild as my friend, but I was rejected. What a blow to my ego, but hey, I'm sure it was for the best since I wasn't prepared to raid all that much each week. Then I entered the meh period I mentioned before until I "overheard" a conversation in the general chat in Sholazar Basin which made me choke with laughter and it turned out to be between some of you fellows. I don't recall the names...

Who do you know in Dead Men Raiding? How do you know them?

No one... yet?

Have you read our 'what we look for' and 'philosophy' posts? What do you think of them?

In general I believe I could fit in well with your crowd. I think that I maybe fail on the mechanics discussion part, because I have job where I need to be constantly up to date with every detail of the expertise and when I come home, I'd like to sit back and not be 100% analytical, but rather go with the flow and do what comes naturally. I'm not the right person to ask for loot advice or spec changes. In every other respect, I agree with most of the content of those threads as you may have found out from my application ... of novel proportions.

Annoying questions

A guildie says something you find offensive, what do you do?

I put his/her head in the microwave for a couple of minutes till he/she's calmed down. That's straight forward communication!

Cake or Pie?

Cake. Chocolate cake. With chocolate chips. And chocolate frosting. Or wait. Chocolate pie is nice too. No, cake. No, pie. Cake. Definitely cake. With pie.

Now I *have* to turn off the "let it snow" effect. It's doing my head in. :)

/Nina

That must be Jim, I'm 100% possitive, can't miss :woot2:

I don't think they'll reject your application, since it strikes me as one of the best ones written, such a shame you didn't apply at Eyes Of Ra :P

1 question, do you play more games then just WoW? If so take a good look at the rest of the deadmen forums (hint: L4D, CSS :P) especially the friday nights on those servers shouldn't be missed :D
