Title: The cheapest thermal camera?
Post by: delanvital on March 19, 2009, 10:41:24 AM
I have been asked to find the cheapest thermal camera. It is for use in construction. The most simple I could find is this (http://www.nor-pro.dk/F30.htm). That would cost about 35,000 DKK which today is around £ 4330. My target is around £1500. Perhaps a USB-camera for laptop, or something like that? When I add details to my google query I end up with 3-4 links to Japanese sites only

Do you know where to get a cheap, thermal camera?

A little bit cheaper, http://dk.farnell.com/fluke/ti10/fluke-ti10-thermal-imaging-camera/dp/1553577?_requestid=76270

Alternatively, ebay? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Flir-i5-Thermal-Imaging-Camera_W0QQitemZ260376816978QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_3?hash=item260376816978&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

Would an Infra-Red camera work for what you want? :g:

That 2nd link seems quite good and quite close to budget.

I am not sure. It has to do with detecting cold walls etc. in houses, and thus help locate leaks etc - fx. wind coming through badly put up insulation /moistbarriers etc. - causing areas to be colder. It does specificly lists temperature measurement, so that should be fine then... will mail them.

Cheers for the feedback guys.

I think i get the difference now. Thermographic cameras show the surroundings, as well as coloured according to temperature. IR-cameras only shows temperature deviations...

I'm confused by that NEC one. Why would you need a flash adaptor thing on the top?

EDIT: It's a real camera too. Makes sense now.
