Would it be OK to fire up a L4D public server?
It's a pretty hot game at the moment and it could introduce new people to the community. Now that Sourcemod is installed, I could setup adverts to promote the website/forum. :)

Yes please.:)
In principle, yes....but we need to work out how it's going to work...
Do we run a co-op or versus?
Do we encourage play on the non-private then switching to the private?
And finally, because the code is so crap we will need more admins. I'd suggest we have two classes.
The decision makers, as is, and the additional that can change levels and do the day to day. I'm all for it, but I don't want to dilute what we do have with the dirty unwashed.
Final thing, how do we manage lone-wolves? Do we kick them? We already have some, do we kick them? No-comms players? Do we kick them? Same problem.

We have no choice AIUI.
A public server is selected randomly by the lobby system to allocate players to. Ours would be a shop window for us to advertise our teamwork ethos.
