At a computer at work we have AVG antivirus installed.
The problem with it is it can't update.
Any suggestions on what I can check here with computersettings and such?
Ive had few issue with AVG on my media center lately, it keeps dropping the free reg key, and thereafter not updating
How did you resolve it Kreg?
well i actually just reregistered for a new free license key, entered into AVG and its worked the last few days
I did try another antivirus which seems to have the same problem.
It can't update.
Is this a portissue?
it could be ms firewall blocking it from accessing the internet..
try adding the program to windows firewall exeption list
Just to clarify are you running avg 7.5 or avg 8?
If its the former support for downloads ran out in 2008.
If you have the FREE version, you can download and then manually install updates from here (http://free.avg.com/download-update).
If you have the full version you can download and manually install from here (http://www.avg.com/download) (You need to go to the bottom of the page where you can select 'update' and then download. (useful if you manage a number of PC's as they can all update from the same location on your network).
There are known issues with AVG and updating, see this support link (http://www.avg.com/support) for more information.

AVG 8. Will try if the computer is free, the intern is on it at the moment.
He was complaining about a slow computer when working.
While working he set his scan to on so it was slowing down his drawingprogram and when checking his antivirus hasn't been updated for a while.

By the way, just to let you all know, there was a bug with a previous AVG (can't remember the version) which appended to its log file and eventually became MASSIVE. This, on smaller hard disks filled up the drive and consequently slowed the PC rightd down. So if you get a problem like that, check the size of the log file.
I had that problem a while ago, decided i was fed up with avg and installed Avira Antivir instead, very happy with it so far :)
