Right, done a little research into Maly P3, and apparently the best tip is to all ball up, and when the spark electric field comes in just shuffle to the right to avoid it, instead of all going off in different dirrections, then you can AoE heal easily and if you do get focus'd on you can just Shield easily

-group up

Why?

Cos the best healing comes from being in proximity of the healer who is doing an AOE heal via himself.

Set a gather point at the start - e.g. South.
Stay together and one person call a rotation from 6 o'clock to 9 o'clock, to 12, to 3 etc and move around in 3 hour chunks as called.

Mal and me have gone over a little cheeky tactic that makes the moving as a group loads easier. It takes a bit of a trick to set up and requires that all have a fond knowledge of their keyboard though ;-)

Mal read somewhere that you can have your drake /follow a designated other player around. We tried this out with the Aces High! quest, and it seems to work like a charm. Prio to the start of the fight, make sure that you do the following:

1) Open your chat by pressing Enter
2) Type /follow , do not press enter
3) Copy this text. Default WoW does not let you mouse drag to select text, so you'll have to Shift+Home, then Ctrl+C
4) When P3 hits and everyone's on their drake, press enter to bring up the chat, and hit Ctrl+V to paste the /follow command. Hit enter.

What this does is it has all drakes follow 1 drake around. This has several advantages. First and foremost, people can take their minds off moving out of the electric field. It means that of all people, only this 1 person has to look out for that thing, and move the hell away from it. Naturally he has to be very much on top of it, because the /follow command induces a delay.

Second, people can keep firing while moving, they don't have to face Malygos to do so. As I described it during testing, "this baby can shoot fireballs from her arse". So wether your drake is facing north, west, up or down, it can always fire at Malygos.

One thing this technique does not account for is the Focus beam that happens when Malygos focusses on a player. This player will still have to move the hell away from everyone and put up Fire Shield, so this still requires attention. After the beam stops the player will also have to reissue his follow command on the anchor player. This makes this method questionable in its use, but still...

If the focus beam happens on the player who's anchoring, it shouldn't be a problem for him to get the hell away from the rest and stay ahead of them, just keep moving until the beam stops, the rest will follow you around and you will end up being a group again.

Perhaps this is me being dumb but..

Could we set up a macro for the following? as i know id much prefer a button to click instead of pasting a line of text and pressing enter.

Evo :)

Jim, I was agreeing with you, sorry if it did come over the way it was meant to.  I was simply adding the reason for grouping up and highlighting it as some people may not realise the mechanics of the healing you receive in that part of the fight.  If people know that flying off by themselves means they get no healing then they will stick with the group and then the group wins.

With regards to the "why can't we macro it" question

When you are on/in a wow vehicle you lose all your action bars !

so althought you could make the macro no problem you wouldnt have access to a button to make it work.

What about the side bars? I seem to recall they used to stay when I just used the standard interface.

I now use bartender so all my bars stay :)

Aye with a default action bar system you lose sight of them so you can't macro them. I guess if bars stay up then a macro is no problem, probably makes it loads easier too. As long as people manually fly back to the group before popping follow again, so they don't drag themselves through Malygos getting whooped by the aura thing in the process xD
