Title: New Update
Post by: Benny on March 25, 2009, 10:21:53 PM
Enjoy...

QuoteGame and client changes

Introduced fatigue to the melee attack in versus mode. You will see a HUD display when your melee swing is cooling down

Boomer vomit will now pass through common infected

Addressed some surround sound detection issues

Fixed a rare crash when exiting Left4Dead on Windows Vista

Fixed a case where the complete all expert campaigns achievement was not being rewarded

Dedicated server changes

Corrected an issue where Windows based dedicated were sending spurious shutdown notifications to the master causing them to delist temporarily

Fixed dedicated servers not resetting the versus team swap correctly--you could join a dedicated server that had a previous game that was swapped and arrive on the other team than what was selected in the lobby

Renamed the tags for sv_search_key to use "key:" in the server tags instead of "sv_search_key." This should help with issues of the 63 character limit of server tags

Fixed an occasional server crash related to voting

Weirdly i didn't get an update. Usually i had to launch the game to get an update but of late tf2 has been updating itself when i close the game and steam is idling on desktop. Hope i'm up to date :D

Mhhmm, found this out yesterday. Must say I have to get used to it.

I hope in one of the patches they let the bots pick up molotovs and such aswell, sometimes it's annoying that they don't pick them up or when a teamm8 had to leave the leav the pimpbom on the bot.

Not good enough it seems. After yesterdays expertmode I'm still on 1/4

I find this quite good actually. It stops the known "closet camping" tactic that had become widespread before this update. Closet camping is when people make a 2 by 2 formation with the two in the front crouching down. Then all 4 or just the crouching continously just do melee. That way you could fend off any horde if you backed into a "closet". All attacks from hunters, boomers or smokers are also effectively fended off.

I agree on that. I don't like being on the wrong end of it, but it will stop the melee panic defence (which did work quite well). People will have to start shouting 'reload' etc to keep the cover going.

I got a couple of achievements when first booting into the game which I hadn't got before. I also managed to get the Barf bagged one now it's easier to vomit through infected.
Other than that the melee is the most noticable. Not sure it always works in the same way. Sometimes it seems to tire quickly others doesn't Not sure if that's just me imagining things, or genuine.

a new feature for L4D but alas  vista users and especailly us 64 bit guys have had this design feature for nearly 2 years now, the only differance is we get a nice screen with loads of writing on a blue background:sideways:

I've been running 64bit Vista for over a year and have never had a BSOD, however I have had more than my fair share of L4D disconnects

I've been on 64bit since it came out and haven't had any problems. I assume you've done the usual steps of updating all your drivers etc
