Title: Hmmm my profile has been reset...
Post by: Dewey on April 02, 2009, 07:45:49 PM
I joined the Fish hook 30 mins ago and on joining I get a message:

Profile can't be found - profile reset.

I'm now back to level 1 :ranting2: ah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My profile is still viewable but the config_mp.cfg and mpdata have been saved over by the reset version and I have a nice mpdata.corrupt file sticking its fingers up at me.

Bum!

cheers sulky my own fault, I didn't realise it was an issue so never thought of backing it up - being a web manager I should have thought of that! lol

My new problem is the pc is now crashing when I'm in or just entering a game. *sigh*

if youve still got the old proile move it to another location and reinstall, it may also solve the crash issue which could still be caused by corrupt config settings that are not happy with the new profile

found this online

QuoteIt would appear that there are some issues with the master servers at Activision which are resulting in authorisation errors when joining servers and timeouts.

BE WARNED - this can also affect your rank as some people are reproting that when they do get to rejoin a server their rank is lower and the number of hours played is showing as less on many stats packages.

Apparently, if you do suffer this you need to :

Go to cod4/players/profiles/your name and you will see mpdata and mpdata.corrupt, mpdata.corrupt is the file that has your lvl 55 and stuff, delete mpdata and rename mpdata.corrupt to just mpdata

dont forget to backup first!

That is according to a post on the IW forums so I can't vouch for it's accuracy, but just watch out for this problem

I had that once with CoD4 aswell.
Everytime I play a game of CoD4 or CoD5 I save my profile.
CoD4, save user profile. CoD5, I have a nice program for that wich just needs selecting and press space bar to make a profile backup.

Hope you get yourself sorted for Monday (I believe we're up against you).

would a system restore undo any config changes and any other changes that would make you crash?

Sulky, thanks mate, I'll try your suggestions and if they don't work I'm going to reinstall COD4 - saving the profile and see if that stops it crashing.

I'm hoping it is just cod as I played FM 2009 fine and that doesnt crash.

Blunt and Duvel thanks also will suggestions noted.
