Hi everyone, I just opened this post to host a discussion about the dual spec topic, with emphasis on the hybrid classes. Paladins and Druids in particular have a wider choice. Speaking for myself, since i think all the other classes who are not already dps specced will off-spec dps (i'm not counting the people who want to use the second spec for pvp, but in some cases i think they can be included), i was planning in having protection as off-spec, becouse, as I experienced yesterday (we had to pug one or more tank if i remember right), it seems the guild will benefit from this choice more. I really do not have preferences, so i will consider any suggestion.
I myself will probably be speccing Healer/Prot as well with that in mind, although I'm not entirely sure yet. I have kits across all three specs but I'm just wondering if it'll ever be worth sacrificing a tank for another healer (as opposed to a healer for a tank, or a tank for dps).
Everyone's choice is their own of course, but I hope many will make the choice that benefits the guild most :)
My suggestion to you Tirkad would be to start rolling offspec on tank drops in Naxx. Alot of it is already had by either Necro or me, so it probably wouldn't take you long to gather a decent kit, provided the stuff drops.
Dual spec will be great for fights like Patch where you want to drop some healers for dps and then have more healers for fights like Sapph/KT. It should help loads. Just remember to buy yoru glyphs NOW before the rush to buy them on patch day. Training dual spec costs 1,000g and then you get a totally new talent tree and a fresh set of glyph sockets to fill. The in-game outfitter will not be part of the patch, so let's hope the current addons still work post-patch!

Planning to go Shadow / Disc
Im thinking on Healer / tank also ... Just for times like last night where we used a pug tank... as for a pvp spec I never pvp
You see me as feral tank and feral dps:rolleyes::narnar:
well i cudnt go last night daughter was ill and i didnt want to leave u in the lurch hence i was playing L4D instead its easier to afk on but as for dual spec i dont think im gonna bother .

Not if ulduars not up to standing innit
I'll be a tank as my main and will dps in the other slot. Much prefer the tanking though.
Im going Holy + ret ( cuz i likes to bash things )
Got full raid gear in both :)

Let's just go over this (help ol' Garrit make his choice :D), where would be the bigger benefits?
Tank -> Healer: Seems to me like a rather rare occasion. You could have a tank go healer on Sapph to compensate for lack of the latter, but then you'd need that tank on KT after and you'd not have enough healers. Can thus help on one particular fight to compensate for a lack, but that lack might return the next fight because you need the same ammount of healers but more tanks.
Tank -> DPS: More feasible if you ask me. PW like TL said, or again Sapph, or Thaddius come to mind. Relying on spare healers to tank or spare tanks to heal seems like a bad idea...You should have those slots filled to begin with.
Curse being hybrid! Too many choices!
i will b ele -> healer on my shammy.
Tank / boomkin.....maybe....maybe not......erm.......
Had a little chat about it today and I reckon I'm gonna go with holy/prot. Bought me glyphs too! ^^
If any of you need any glyphs...feel free to drop me a message on Nizzel/Purplemist/Puja ( Usually Puja ). Prices have already started to drift up on Glyphs/Gems and expect them to go a bit insane on Patch day and for a couple of weeks afterwards.
