I've chosen these for their interest and quality. I've looked at quite a few tracks that frankly don't hack it! The one's I've selected are, in my opinion, the best and although they don't come up to the sort of standard that iRacing has set, they are at least free! :norty:
If you know of a track you would like to see included, speak up, then I can say no! (for Oliver :D)
I speak for myself and Boogle when I say. If you don't have "Bathurst" on that list it is not complete:D

Did anyone hear anything just then? :g: Must be my swine flu playing tricks on me. Oink oink...aaatchoo! :crying:
Hehehehe:D Hope you get better soon!
I concur Toddshooter, Bathurst is a fantastic track.

All right, all right! Stop nagging! Bathurst is on the server. Get it HERE (http://www.realracin.net/ORSM_Bathurst_v1-1.rar)
I have to admit it's a terrific track. Very good quality. I'm going to look at the 1967 version and see if it passes muster

Ron, what version of the modern-day Bathurst it is? Because both 1.1 and 1.2 have the same designation, and don't report mismatches, but you can judge it only by seeing cars going up and down 1 meter above the track, and some going slightly thorugh walls...
I could only see one version v1-1. Which one is the one to have?
Oliver, just register anyway. It's a great source of stuff!

Well i have the 1.2 version for a long time, it comes with the latest V8 SC patch.
I've uploaded it on rapidshare (http://rapidshare.com/files/225745958/Bathurst.rar.html) two weeks ago - check this post (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=273872&postcount=8) for little history :narnar:
I didn't realise the V8 thing was the same track. It looks like a seperate thing. Why :narnar:? Why not :) I'll get the 1.2 then. :D
I heard some concerns about Brands Hatch tonight THIS (http://rs86.rapidshare.com/files/35592255/Brands_2005_1.01_patch.rar) is probably the answer.

Ah, does this fix the horrible vibration in the steering wheel, then? If so, thanks a bunch! :yahoo:
Quote from: obsolum;275420Ah, does this fix the horrible vibration in the steering wheel, then? If so, thanks a bunch! :yahoo:
No, it's a camera fix. Do you have 900 degree wheel? Have you been fiddling with RealFeel or using rotation other than 900? Is the FF effects set to 'Low'? It should be. (that one is my guess)
Quote from: Doorman;275425Do you have 900 degree wheel?
Yes
Quote from: Doorman;275425Have you been fiddling with RealFeel or using rotation other than 900?
Nope, haven't fiddled with RealFeel after the initial setup, and I'm using 900° rotation.
Quote from: Doorman;275425Is the FF effects set to 'Low'? It should be. (that one is my guess)
It's set to low, checked that twice.
It wasn't so bad in the Capri, but yesterday in both the Lotus Elise and the Renault Alpina it was so bad it was undrivable for me. Seriously, it's a fault in the track, not in the software, hardware or anything else.
Yup, there's something wrong with Brands. It was horrible in the Elite. Just a permanent vibration through the wheel.
Quote from: The Moose;275441Yup, there's something wrong with Brands. It was horrible in the Elite. Just a permanent vibration through the wheel.
Well thats just overdone track bumps, and some cars (suspenison models) exxagerate it more then others.
Check this post for some more info

I was in the Cortina last night, felt normal. I'll have a go in the Elite and see what I get.
brb
EDIT: Yep! Elite very rattly, Capri is smooth but you can just feel an underlying 'lumpiness'
I've added Le Mans, another Virtua LM track...Stunning! Who'd be up for 7 laps of that in Le Mans cars?:woot2:
Quote from: Doorman;275739I've added Le Mans, another Virtua LM track...Stunning! Who'd be up for 7 laps of that in Le Mans cars?:woot2:
Err, comodo went a bit potty whilst installing Le Mans saying it could be malware and it tried to change something in the registry amongst some other odd requests, I blocked them all access and it installed the track anyway.
Just had the escort up to 162 on the muslane straight :D
Here's the Nordschleife 2007 track for whoever asked for it last night
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=33ANJDJB
Enjoy!
Thanks Stu. 't Was I who asked for it :flirty: Not because I particularly love it but... because I don't know it at all and I want to see what all the fuss is about :lmfao:
Obsolum, I had actually never raced on the Nordschleife in any sim until a few days ago. What a truly astonishing track! The one Moose linked to is very beautifully modelled. I kept getting distracted by the scenery. :D
The track isn't particularly well suited for racing I think becuase it's so narrow and with few overtaking spots, but it's excellent fun for some hotlapping offline. In fact it was so much fun that this was part of the reason I had to force myself to disassemble my racing rig..
Interesting :) Haven't been able to try it out yet as it's a .7z file and Winrar can't open that. Bloody alternative softwares :ranting2: :)

I got this (PDF/Exploit.Pidief.OJS.Gen trojan) when trying to download either Lemans or Nordschleife tonight. Not sure what track did it. Be careful!

From rFactor Central?
EDIT: I've just done a scan of my rFactor add-ons folder which contains everything I've ever downloaded from RFC, with Malwarebytes...nothing! Also with NOD32...nothing And for good luck Ad Aware...nothing
Check with Kaspersky showed all files as clean, nothing even suspected. :g:
Could these be 'false positives'?
Anyway, go get Long Beach. I'll update the OP. Once you've found your way out of the paddock it's terrific! :woot2:

Ahhh, Long Beach... I remember that one from my days in Indy Car Racing 2 (by Papyrus). That was the very first track I ever raced on in my sim racing career. I was... 14 at the time, oh my...
I'm curious to see how it looks now :)
Quote from: Doorman;275852Could these be 'false positives'?
Could be, but it was not in the files temselves, it was on one of the sites. Maybe in some ad or something. I visited the same sites later and then I did not get any messages.
My warning was more general and that we should be careful with tracks with installers and with "dodgy" sites.

My Winrar opens 7z files. Right click, extract. Unless you've already sussed that, in which case I'll schtum. :)
Bump! O.P. Added Donnington, Jerez, Spa, Singapore and Watkins Glen.
They're luverly! I think I've trawled throught the entire collection on rFactor Central. I ignored fantasy tracks, ovals and dirt tracks. I really wanted to add athe Finnish tracks Alastaro, Ahvenisto and Botniaring but sadly the quality was lacking. Anteeksi Suomi.

About time Spa was added :)
Options\Settings\Integration tab\check 7zip box
That might help
Hmm, I don't have such a checkbox :g: What version are you using? Mine is 3.20 but now that I think about it... it's been that version for an awfully long time. I'm probably using a prehistoric version, lol.
EDIT: downloaded the latest version of Winrar and extracted it. Thanks! :)
Typical rFactor problem. For Spa are you running "F1 1988" or the sizzler one?

I had the same problem today when downloading the LeMan circuit and imported a virus. I hadn't restarted Kaspersky after my computer rebuild. Locked me out of task Manager and stopped any attempt to get to Kaspersky on the net. Fortunately, I managed to find an old copy Of KAV on spare hard drive, ran set-up and alls now well.:)
Didnt fancy two rebuilds in a week
Virus was win32.sality.ae and the trojan downloader was .win32.Agent.brxr
yeah, I got that too. Sorry I forgot to mention it. I never got lemans because of this. So you actually got infected, damn :(. I didn't risk it after my browser and Avast gave me a warning, even though it was mentioned here that it may be a false positive.
Odd, I didn't get anything. I have AVG running :g: Haven't noticed anything strange with my computer either *shrug*
I got a trojan warning as I went to the French site when I clicked the download link (but before the download actually had started). I think the whole site is infected.. the track file itself appeared to be clean, though.
BTW those VirtuaLM tracks are just stunningly beautiful! Mid Ohio is a true gem. I actually went around there using my keyboard yesterday just because I missed it so! :lmfao:

I'll change the link.
Not a track for the server as it's a long one (unless you fancy a road race) but this: http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=UKRally is nice for a blast in the english countryside in test drive, very realistic and well made, reminds me of some of the roads in the lake district.

That looks nice. Could be fun to just "cruise" on in your car of choice :)
I shall have a little trundle round there this very afternoon. :) In a Cortina.
Very nice. I did it in a BMW E90. Some serious air to be had, which I doubt would do much for your suspension! :D A less stressful version of Mt. Arrowsmith/head.
EDIT: I don't remember seeing the signpost.
Nice drive :)
Tried in E-Type -poor choice- never got out of 2nd gear and spend most of the time on the verges.
Amount of force feedback in the first 100 yards or so was disconcerning and the amount of 'airtime' exciting, although I expected a broken suspension on every jump. Good find Ben :D
I just had a go on that track. Not really knowing what to expect I chose the GT40, because I think it's an awesome car and I hadn't driven it yet. Not the best choice for that type of track, lol  I had to slow down to a crawl before that little bridge in order to get over it.
I still had the time accelerator set to x25 so after 1 lap dusk started to settle in and I had to turn on my headlights. Evening and night time driving definitely add to the experience, I find :)
Not a track to run on the server, but nice nonetheless.
Just tried Le Man. WOW! in Alpina BM and then Capri, what an excellent track. :D
Couldnt keep that up for 24 hrs. Mind you, at my age, I have trouble in keeping some things up for 24 seconds.
Concentration I mean.

That is such a nice find! thank you very much.
Just had a go in the 5 speed Abarth 4:22..and the quest is on to PB hell.
Updated OP with GPC79. GPC79 is an F1 mod from the er...'79 era. Out of all the tracks that make up that series, three impressed me. Dijon, which I loved from GTL days (this is even better! Although it only includes the GP circuit) Montreal, before they put in bouncy floor covering and Monza when it was a man's track! I've made a pack of them so minimal fiddling.
Give this one a go Doors. Dave had us race this last night and he has definitely found a gem!!!!!:D

Oran Park is a truly magnificent circuit in real life. Such a shame that they're closing it down! :( But now it will live on forever in a digital version. I just downloaded it and limped around the track using my keyboard, and it looks really great. :woot2:
I tried this on a while ago and it frustrated the hell out of me. I could NOT find my way round it! I wandered around like a lost lamb  I'll load it up though, if that is your desire. :)
EDIT: Added Oran Park to OP
Hehehehe Yes I had the same problem:D Dave had to show us the way around like a school teacher the first lap or two.
The track is in dire need of some famous Doorman hay bales to keep everyone on track:roflmao:
Todd, you're spot on! :D I've just driven about a dozen laps in a 906. Fantastic! It's in the rotation. :thumbsup2:

I think it was the Toca Race Driver 1, 2 and 3 that I first tried most of the Ausie Tracks with the V8 supercars. Then later with Rfactor and the Excellent V8 Factor mod. Give it a shot, the sounds and car model are
quite good.

Nice suggestions for tracks Dave. Barbagallo is a blast to drive on, nice short track with a big ol' hill :D
Now then. Got a copy of GTL, got Rfactor, got the HistoriX mod - do I just need to complete the set with all the tracks in the original post and I'll be away? Or are there other fiddlings to be done?

Does it run ok? If so, get the tracks and you're good to go. There ARE fiddlings, but of the 'fine tuning to your requirements' variety of which there are numerous. :)

Anyway, i tough i would try to do something about Brands Hatch and it's crazy "vibration-bumpiness". Result is down in the link, now it feels like any other track. Archive contains new .tdf file and old one in case you need it (for some other server maybe...).

Is that just a client side file or do I need to add it to the server? Will it cause mismatches?
On the subject of bumpiness, I got the Volkswagen Beetle mod (not bad at all!) and they bounce around like they have solid front axles! Is this editable in a .tdf file somewhere? I found a headphysics.ini but couldn't make..oh no!...head nor tail of it.
Quote from: Doorman;278622Is that just a client side file or do I need to add it to the server?
Not just client side, it needs to be on server. Similar to Cadwell.gdb. Actually, two files are of very similar usage, just that tdf is used only to define bumping and similar, whereas gdb can be used for few other things.

Yes.

Probably the bumpiness that you see is just overdone parameter called CockpitVibrationMag. You can decrease it in .plr file AND in each car folder there is a file called "*****_cockpitinfo.ini" - replace ***** with car name. There also you have that parameter, you can decrease it i'm 90% sure it does not cause mismatches.
Which list of tracks is definitive for the DMR server, the OP in this thread or the ones at http://files.deadmen.co.uk/nKP/rFactor%20tracks/ ? If the former then I give up, I don't have the time to deal with the likes of MediaRapidShareFirePayUsForDownloadsOrWaitForever.com...
None at the moment as it's the new dMr server, as far as I can find it has only Silverstone and Barcelona.

In reality we only have Silverstone, as Barca gave mismatches when we tried last night. :g:
The other tracks are on Doors' own server (finnglish) which he kindly put up prior to our dMr one. I know the file share sites are exasperating -but they are still free and I do like 'free' despite the limitations. Young impatient whippersnappers..... :taz:

And there's me biting my tongue. :lmfao:
I don't know how many of you have trouble with Eastern Creek Laser's start lights/sounds but I certainly did. I re-downloaded and it works perfectly! :g: Get it from HERE (http://www.finnglish.co.uk/Stuff/tracks/EasternCreekLaser.zip)(no, it's not Rapidshare)
If you're not sure if yours works, do a SP race weekend and see/hear if you get the start lights

Heh. I spent 3 nights tryiing to download them all, and then posted that and gave up. Shame, because the cars are nice and what tracks I have seem good, but I only have a little leisure time and I'd rather spend it racing. :)

What kind of connection do you have, then? I agree that there are quite a few tracks listed in Doorz' post, but it shouldn't take you more than half an hour tops to download and extract them all.
I suppose I could add all of them to one single rar file and upload that for you if you're interested in playing this superb mod...
It's not the connection (although 7 Mbit isn't great for an ADSL2+ connection, serves me right for living 5km from the telephone exchange :), it's the limits the likes of megaupload put on you.
If you are able to RAR them all and put them somewhere I can get at I'd be most grateful, having done a few offline runs I'm interested in racing in this mod for sure... :)

Why do you feel you have to do them all at once? Just download them as you need/want them. In addition, most, if not all of them have alternative links. Mediafire has no limit for example and rFactorCentral has it's own link (the one with the rfc logo next to it. Besides, bunging them in one .rar will be a gig!

If Joe is planning on racing on the server it is better to have all the necessary tracks installed at once, rather than getting kicked out every time a track comes along that he doesn't have yet.
I just checked and all the downloaded tracks I've got make a total of 1.3GB. That's a bit large to upload for me, as my upload speed is capped. Would take me quite a while. Plus, a great number of those I have never even seen on the server so it would be pointless for me to upload them.
However, the "official" dMr server only has 10 tracks or so in its rotation, correct? Is there a definite list yet? If so, would someone be so kind to point me to it so I can just upload those tracks for Joe?
EDIT: I'll tell you what, Joe. I'll just upload the 4 tracks that will be used this Friday in Doorz' Tour of America (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=283155&postcount=53). That way you can get some practice in on those and hopefully join the fun on friday evening.
Alright Joe, you can download a 198 MB .rar file that contains the 4 tracks needed for Doorz' upcoming Tour of America here (http://files.getdropbox.com/u/1380502/Tour%20of%20America%20Tracks.rar).
Now get practicing! :boxing:
Most grateful. Downloading as I type. :)
One more thing, and I guess this is off topic slightly, but how do I unlock all the cars? It looks like Rfactor (and therefore HistoriX) has some sort of single player "win races for money to buy cars with" thing going on, but I want to drive the Porsche 906 now now now! :) Is there a simple fiddle that I'm missing?
d'oh! you just select them and start the session. :) Sometimes asking a question inspires you to find the answer...
You will need money to buy certain cars and upgrades. The easiest way to do this is start a race session (offline is ok) and type in 'ISI_BABYFACTORY' in the chat box, when you hit return it won't actually show up in the chat window. Then just exit the session and listen to the cash register ringing away!
Some cars will remain locked until you have enough racing experience to drive them, to get round that (and get cash) find your userdata/playername folder on the c: drive and edit this file (backup first)
ANY_DEV_ONLY.cch
Look for these lines near the top and type big numbers in -
[CAREER]
Experience=2147483647
Money=2062421821
Also each 'series' mod you install will have it's own .cch file with the same lines so edit them too. :D
Thanks Mark - I guess all this is old hat if you've seen rfactor before, but this is my first look at it. Thanks again to Oliver for putting up the files, and sorry for my impatience overall. :) Hope to see you on track Friday...
You're most welcome.
One more tip: remember to buy the "adjustable steering ratio" upgrade for every car you drive! That way you can... well... adjust the steering ratio  That's definitely necessary if you want a good driving experience. The default steering lock in the Abarth, for example, is a measly 10Ã,°. Which means lots of turning the wheel for even the slightest corner. I suggest setting it to 24Ã,° - 26Ã,°, that gives a good feel for most cars.
Also remember to set your steering wheel to 900Ã,° in the profiler (assuming you've got a wheel that can handle that).
Nordschleife 2007. There was some confusion over which version to have. The link in the 'Tracks etc...' is the definitive one. Absolutely superb! :dribble:
If you have 'The Ring 2007' in your locations folder it's the right one. The .rar file is 'Ring 2007 v22a'
It'll be on the server this all week
I've added two more tracks with direct links to Mediafile. Birmingham (Alabama) aka Barber Motorplex and Lime Rock Park (with patch) Quality is good, yeah, yeah, iRacing/laser stuff, but they're free! :D
If Mediafile doesn't suit, then suit yourself :) Lime Rock (http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Lime%20Rock%20Park) and Birmingham (http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Birmingham%20Motorplex) RFC pages.

Great! Long awaited fantastic little Lime Rock is GO! Now that you've added them, everyone go here and pick texture updates for both tracks (http://sln.rscsites.org/)
Makes lime rock look much better!
There is only one file you need to replace.
Exchanging or editing textures DOES NOT cause mismatches.

Now we're talking! Lime Rock look 100x better with this update.. Thanks :)
From that site with the texture updates i would highly recommend the updates for:
Northamptonshire
Bathurst
Toban Raceway
Lienz Festival
More to come as i test them

As long as they don't have freshly painted kerbs. :)
Huh, it never came to my mind to tell you about SLN's textures.
My brain needed sort of trigger, which was pulled by 'lime rock' words.
I remeber few years ago when i dled it, i tought that it looks awfull. And then sometime later somehow i got to sln's site..
He is one of the best texture artist in community.
