Title: Games Last Night

Hey Hi and Howdy....

It's not like to me start new threads, I am more of a forum lurker :narnar:
However, I was a little disapointed with our regular CS players last night, and this is why I am writing :)
This is not a rant! Just something to think about :)

As you would have noticed yourself, the server filled up with a whole bunch of new faces(cs_italy), and unfortunately not all of them stuck to our rules.

In the past, people would have just been warned and then kicked.
I know we are no longer "enforcing" the rules as strictly as before, so now we try to educate the newcomers.

It seemed to me that most of our regulars left the server quite early on, without trying very hard to get others to play the game our way.

I know myself how frustrating it is, constantly being shot from someone who is Out-of-bounds.
But especially now, where the server is not as busy as it used to be, I think it is very important to stick at it, and pull more new players in.

We are not helping ourselves, if we jump ship as soon as a few people try to spoil it. We have to stick at it, and show others that these few rogues will not stop us from doing things our way.

When I joined dMw Boomer was populated almost every night, if not even every night. I quit gaming for 6 months, whilst I moved. And when I came back in Jan this year, the CS:S side of things had died down dramatically.
Sure, there are a lot of new games out there and people are playing these insted. But last night should show us that the game still gets played, and we can fill Boomer up no problem at all.

And I'm sure we can manage to get a few new regular players joining us (in-game and on the forums), we just have to try.
All I ask is, that we don't all run at the first sign of trouble and stay just a extra round or 2. Ideally you'd stick out the whole map :norty:

Italy (last night) was probably not the best start for the new comers, to them it will seem to be "spawn camping" as you can't go very far.

On other maps, it is not as obvious since you have much more space to move around.
Anyway....I hope we can all pull together and try to get some more regular games on Boomer going :o)

Allways happy to join, just give me a nudge on steam.

Hope to see you all on MH tonight :boxing: :yahoo:

I for one tried to encourage the newcomers to play by the rules.  However, there were at least two admins on for quite a while that I was playing and of course it's game server decorum to defer to the admins and allow them to request new people play by the rules.  Having said that I don't feel I (for one) didn't encourage the newcomers at all but played my part in helping.

As for leaving early, well I don't watch the clock to see if I've been on the server long enough or whatever.  If I have to go, I go! Simple as that!

Like you, I would love to see more people on Boomer and more days in the week too but that's just the way it goes I suppose?  I went through a stage of going on to Boomer and playing with thos damn dumb bots in the hope that people would join and to a certain extent they did but there is only so much Botage I can cope with ;-) Anyway, we've discussed this at length in other threads so I wont go on about that too much now.

It was a tough night last night as we did have quite a few new players on as well as a clan who decided to join and break every rule in the book (started with boundaries and then WT / shooting hossies etc etc) so keeping an eye on everything was difficult, i had planned to leave earlier than i did, but wanted to make sure everything was in order before I left,  Unfortunately it does happen from time to time but the good thing was that the other new players seemed to grasp the concept better and hope they will join us again.

Sorry for the disruption, it was good earlier in the night :)

I had to leave suddenly last night as I had a visitor, but I did say "nn all gtg etc."
It's very difficult to admin any server when it's invaded, the best you can hope for is a few rounds disrupted before they are banned and normality returns.
It's not like it's any old Public server either; when someone new joins our server, it's a different set of rules, and they either "get it" or not.

I start many mid-week games on Boomer, I've even started it's own thread (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=26924)

Feel free to bump it:D
