I'm looking at getting this product. The version with speakers got a PC Zone Essential listing in their hardware section and the thing that makes it great for games is the 12ms response.
Has anyone seen it in action or can recommend a better?
I've not seen it, but the specs look good G.

I think I'll order it then. Hopefully it'll stop these nasty headaches I get when sat infront of the screen for hours on end.
I too am in the market for a flat screen for gaming.

I guess a machine like that will be fine for BF1942 and CS etc? I heard something about ghosting or something similar anyone heard about that?
Gandalf, I'd be interesting in hearing what you think of it. I would be temepted to go for that model but with the built-inspeakers ?

I don't need the speakers. I either use headphones or the 5.1 speakers that I have. The creative ones, can't remember what model but they sound good.
Anyway, the the one without the speakers is £20 cheaper.

1 more question, it comes with a DVI cable, is it worth replacing with a decent one? I'm also into hi-fi and the first thing you do when you get a new bit of kit is to throw the cables that come with it in the bin and buy decent ones. Which is why I ask.
Could those in the know please tell me whether they think this model would be suitable for gaming?

DVI is a must for a TFT. There is a *significant* improvement in signal and picture quality. As for the cables that ship with the TFT monitors, I've found them more than good enough for each of the TFTs that I run at home and work.
As for the Hercules, the specs look reasonable if not market leading. IMO you should only buy it if it is at a stunningly attractive price.
I would second Oldbloke's comments about LG's TFTs. They seem to have cornered the market for big panels at a reasonable price. I run an LG 882LE (18.1") and it is superb. If you chekc out the specs for that monitor you will find it is way worse than all of the ones discussed in this thread. Bottom line, good is relative. My 882's response time is about 40ms and I manage to get by just fine when gaming. On the basis of my TFT my father bought the LG 1810 and has been really happy with it. LG seem to make some real quality TFTs atm.

I'll sure do that, though I don't play CS much anymore due to the fact that my new sound card isn't supported (can't get voice comms to work)

nope. they're not available till the end of the month :( (I'm getting them from our suppliers, blinding price)
However, I'll take this chance to review some other models. I have my eye on an 18" LG. Won the test in this months PC Pro.
