So... this is just the HistorX mod we've all been enjoying these past few weeks, right? I'm thinking of signing up for that event, even though I probably won't be able to race as there are already people on the waiting list. I just think it'll be a blast to do a race with a grid of that size.

Is the track installed by default or do I need to download it?

It's not HistoriX, it the BMW E90 mod (http://www.race2play.com/schedule/show/379) Click on the BMW add-on link. You can get the track from there as well. Or, here

Y'all want to hear about my E90 experience?
Well, I went onto the server a little early, just before official practise, said hi to the guys already there and did a couple of warm up laps. There's no way I can convey to rage/despair/disappointment when we had a power cut! :taz: We'd had about 4-5 of them already during the afternoon(you know the sort, just enough to feck up all the clocks in the house) and by 7pm I thought we were safe. :nope: The tragedy was that our indynets went awol as well and we didn't get it back till midnight! Gutted!

Hard luck Doorz. :console: Thought something was amiss as a few guys came on LFS after trying Historix and not seeing your server.

This also gave me the opportunity to observe a theory of mine:- That if you play a game regularly (say snooker) and then try a variant (say pool), it spoils your snooker game.:lightbulb:

This was obvious last night in LFS, people who had been playing Historix were poo, so much so that a geriatric with gout could whup 'em. :narnar:

I've changed the MOTD to read

WARNING! HistoriX can seriously damage your LFS

I wonder why there aren't any HistorX events on Race2Play :g: Surely there are plenty of people who would be interested in that? Who organizes those events? I don't suppose it's something you can do as a user, is it? It's probably organized by R2P.

EDIT: apparently it is possible to create your own "league", as explained here (http://www.race2play.com/front/independent_chapters). You have to pay a fee, though, and since I'm unemployed I'm definitely not gonna spend money on such things. Plus you'd have to pay to use a R2P server as well if you don't have one yourself. Still, the exposure to the huge memberbase of R2P would be sure to draw a good number of people in, IMO.

It has been asked but nothing other than 'we'll look into it'. To be fair, they have an enormous range of races and I suppose it's a case of where do you draw the line? You know yourself how many mods there are for rFactor.
EDIT: Just read your edit. I guess I could organise a league for HistoriX but I'd sooner put what energy I have left into making our own server popular.

I guess it has a lot to do with GT Legends - the never ending question of is this mod legal or not - they may refuse to have it there because you can already have it as a standalone game, why a mod would be needed...

Because the mod has far superior physics? :)

If your looking for good racing try this place. Boogle, Aj, and I did a race two weekends ago and it was fantastic.

Well i did wrong formatting on my previous post...

"you can already have it as a standalone game, why a mod would be needed..." - in previous post that isn't my words, it's what many many people say on RSC, and  thats what i was guessing probably has a lot to do on R2P and Historix. That and their respect to simbin. Simbin never said anything about this mod, and occasionaly there are discussions on wheteter some mod is "legal" or not, which in case of histoirx is grey area....

I also do agree that this is better then GTL, then it ever was. I was playing GTL long time ago, but for a short while. And again i recommend this site to be read for all those interested in some short rF physics theory class, written by the guy who probably is one of the few (including developers) who really understands how rf engine works and what it does with all those parameters that sadly most modders enter on random basis

Thanks, looks interesing. Too bad I've missed most of the season already, though! Only 2 races left in both the TC (http://www.raceconnect.com//index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=464&Itemid=347) and the GT (http://www.raceconnect.com//index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=463&Itemid=346) cup. I'll be signing up for those, me thinks.

So I signed up for this event, been looking forward to it all week. Now, can you believe that they don't have the server addresses on the site over at RaceConnect? Seriously, such vital information should be in plain sight with a link on every single page! So okay, I look on the forums, find a topic "Server information" with an ip in it. Cool, I add it, see the server "www.raceconnect.com TC" or something. Problem is, it has 0 players on it and I can't join it with the password provided. So I keep looking and checking on the forum and searching for something that I'm doing wrong. Refreshin rF Server spy every few seconds; no change.

Then this guy in the shoutbox on the site says you have to keep refreshing the list. So... I do that. After a couple times all of a sudden I see TWO servers with the same name, one with 0 players on it, the other with 24 or so players on it. Naturally, by now it's too late to join the server because the race has started  I refresh another time, BOTH servers are gone. I keep refreshing and keep refreshing and neither server shows up in the list anymore.

What is up with that!? Why is the friggin' server list so bloody dodgy in this game!? And why don't the guys at RaceConnect provide more accurate information as to which ip you have to enter EXACTLY to get on the server!?

I'm so miffed right now it's not even funny anymore :ranting2:

Yeah I know, nobody here can do anything about it. I just needed to vent :taz:

I'm gonna go try and get my hands on Prototype and play that and forget about rF; it's causing me way too much stress.

You don't know stress until you've tried to run a server. :flirty:
