As you will know if you've followed the T-Shirt thread, we are opening up a dMw shop to allow our members to purchase dMw merchandise.
The products that don't use direct digital printing require vector graphics and we'd like you to come up with a design in the correct format. We are able to use three designs in the initial products so fire up Illustrator, Corel Draw, Inkscape... and post up a link to the vector image. It would also be useful if you could create a jpg/png/gif version to display in this thread. :)
The requirements for the image are as follows:
Quote Vector graphics can be created with Macromedia Freehand, Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape. Please take note of the following:
- Transforming objects into curves
[/B] Transform all design elements and text into curves. This is possible with Corel Draw: highlight the part of the design you want to convert. Click on 'set up' - 'transform into curves'.; You may run into a few problems when converting complex pixel graphics into curves. Try to convert as few individual objects and colours as possible. Note: vector graphics for plot printing can have up to
three colours per design.
- Check the minimum size of the object
After you've converted to curves, you'll have to check every element of the design to make sure that it has a minimum size of 1.5 mm. One trick for checking this: create a small circle with a diameter of 1.5 mm and lay it over the smallest parts of the design. If the area is smaller than the circle, it's too small for plot printing.
- Save image as vector graphic
Unfortunately, you cannot just open a pixel graphic into a vector programme and save it in a vector format, this is not enough. You have to manually make sure the pixel graphic has been converted into curves. Please submit all vector graphics in one of the following formats: .eps, .ai (up to version CS2,) or .cdr (up to version 11).
- Copyright
Anything you use in the design should not be copyright protected by a third party. By submitting the design you also give permission for dMw to use the design in it's products.
I will be posting up a separate thread at a later date looking for pixel based images for the digital print products :flirty:
I hope this is appropriate to reply here - would it be possible to have the vector image which I think Gaara designed? That was quite nice. The yellow background, black silhouette of game chars.
Replies are welcome, we're looking for suggestions & contributions to the graphics side so that we can get some designs agreed and onto some merchandise for the shop!
Hmm I'll be looking forward to the pictures that will be made :D. I'm sorry that I won't contribute to this thread with my own made pictures, as I feel my skills are to limited as they are (have no experience at all with vector drawing, so doubt the pictures will look anything better then any other noob :))
As for suggestions, I'd like the option to have dmw imprinted stuff from all different parts of this community, so lets say a mug, tshirt, mouse mat ... etc. that can be ordered with a L4D, CS:S, WoW or ... etc. graphic, as well as a combined one ofc.
Nice idea but let's just start with the t-shirts and see how that pans out. We can then expand as necessary :)
Had a little go today.
Colours are changeable (personaly think black ones are better).

I don't like the 'cross' imagery. Sorry.
Any better as a streak? Or we just not onto a winner here?
For me, personally, I would prefer something more subtle.

I'd like to second this idea. I really liked that image. That, with 'dMw' above or below, would be really nice.
I haven't got time to work on this at the moment, but I was thinking how about the people that cant/wont draw still used this as a brainstorming ideas section?
Colours/ideas/wording/font etc etc

I will try and create a full vector image out of that one. The problem with the wallpaper is the fact that only the people in it are vectors. The grass is a photoshop brush and the orange is a gradient.
I hope I'll be able to cook up something later this week.

All input would be more than welcome. :)
I attach some old designs from dMw members to help generate some ideas. Points to remember when designing a piccie for this - the name of the community is Dead Men Walking, which is why we are dMw, as opposed to Deadmen Walking which would of course give 'dw' as its initials.
TL.
When the community was first put together with the name Dead Men Walking was it meant as
Dead Men Walking as in zombies
or
Dead Men Walking as in a guy on death row?

Also do with have any offical colours, catch phrases etc

It's all here bud:
http://www.deadmen.co.uk/cmps_index.php?cc=history :)
QuoteThe vision was of a man pacing slowly but inexorably along a corridor, accompanied by the mocking sound of the angels of death, towards a doorway. The angelic cries were for a dead man walking, for the corridor was in a prison, the room at the end an execution chamber and the man condemned. And it was born, the clan of Dead Men Walking to become known as the -=[dMw]=- clan.
Regarding the shop what items were planned?
I'd be up for getting a poster or mug.
If we want more polo's i still have the details of the dmw amseterdam ones that were made.
So far i think we have had, polo's, bottle opener keyrings, glass pint glass and thats about it.
Always after something that has dmw on it maybe a poll for what people are after.
Regarding the designs i'd prefer something non myth like or heavy metal/ death. It's not my sort of thing.
On second thoughts we don't have a coat of arms.
Maybe a coat of arms with the dmw tag could be created?
I think we're going for designs first before planning which specific style of silver plate cutlery will be available. So it is designs we need and designs we seek!
TL.
Been working on some stuff yesterday, hoping to complete it this weekend :)
Bumped as we still don't have any designs :)
I've had a go myself but I'm sure you can do better :flirty:

here's my attempt, it's not completely done yet and I've got some more ideas on the way.
This is what it would look like on a t-shirt:
and a link to mega size: http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs540&d=09241&f=dmw_shirt_example730.png (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs540&d=09241&f=dmw_shirt_example730.png)
Nice one both of you :worship:

That is *fantastic* IMO. Just what I was thinking of with the dMw tag in the sky above or something. Who's the first in from the left, I think I recognise all the others but not her. Zoe from L4D? Actually, now I think about it, who's the one on the right of the racing driver?
i dont mean to be picky.. but i tend to avoid dark colour shirts. :)
Quote from: Jewelz^;278557i dont mean to be picky.. but i tend to avoid dark colour shirts. :)
Naturally the colors could be inverted ;)
Nooooo!
There is no t-shirt colour but black! ;)
OK, and beige.
Must say i do like Gaara's best so far, but I don't think you can use a gradient in plot printing can you?
I do like Gaara's design too...
would like to see it with either -=[dMw]=- or DeadMen Walking on it. Either fitted to the top of the yellow banner, or below it on the black.
nice work guys!

Yup, I will be adding that, but haven't had the time yet so I shared what I had come up with so far ;)
I think I'll be able to add the logo in tomorrow.
had another attempt :)

Nice 1 Garaa and Delank! :flirty:
Off Topic (sort of)
I'd like to see some thing similar to These (http://itdoesntlookwright.jimdo.com/artwork/) (the combat figures), (I love this guys stuff) maybe grouped together like Gaaras famous gang (I had that as desktop for ages, cheers Gaara)
:)
Gaaras just isn't loading for me.
I like that sort of design too Blunt
:g:
Looks wicked delank, is that full vector? well done!

yeah nice work !! but looks complex
Quote from: Gaara;278847Looks wicked delank, is that full vector? well done!
cheers, all vector but for a concrete texture, which is not really noticable so will probably remove it from my final draft.
I love Gaara's design. Its brilliant.
But
not for the job inhand, as a wallpaper its great but I just cant see it on a t-shirt or mug or flash stick working out.
I am working off a second PC atm as my Main PC is out of action! (see Tech Section)
But I will try to put some more ideas out to help us all come to a decision on whats right for this community.
Zoot out!
@Blunt - I know what you're saying mate but that looks like concept art to me and would be difficult to vector.
off work today so came up with a few more ideas
(http://i689.photobucket.com/albums/vv259/delankster/dmwlogo2.jpg)
this one needs more work but you get the idea
(http://i689.photobucket.com/albums/vv259/delankster/oldie3.jpg)
Please remember to limit your designs to meet the requirements as stated at the top of the thread. These designs will be cut out using a plotter (for T-shirts). If you've got a design that doesn't meet the requirements of the vector image then it would still be OK for the pixel based design thread. :flirty:
Been busy this afternoon :D

2 more :)

but very nice :yahoo:
Zoot, I quite like the first two, the black n whites, but could you do them so they reflect more than one game? A bit mixing with Gaaras vector of all game characters?
Could you please send me the vector images for any designs you have submitted. I'd like to check that they meet the shops criteria before posting up a poll to pick three for the shop. No point voting for something we can't use :)
my poor attempt :)
