ARMA 2 is out at the endof the month. are there plans to try this as a supported game.
Looks very good from the trailers
If there is interest then yes. I'd post your question in the member forums and see what sort of interest and response their is. Our providing a server does of course assume that we'll get access to the server files!
TL.
yes we will be able to run a server
I had a look at this yesterday and I definitely think we should get a server up and running once there's one available.
If we build it they will come :)
If whitey can get one running, lets try and be in at the launch of a game..
from what i can see on the official website it looks nice, pretty much a pretty looking COD4, with "aparently" no pre-defined storylines in singleplayer, intresting to how they would do that.......
does look intresting tho.
i think a few of us have a copy. what about a co-op server
My copy of the game hasn't arrived yet but I'll be trying to get a server up and running when it does. They haven't made it easy to run a dedicated server with the only one available requiring the main game files from the DVD and a German beta of the dedicated server exe :sideways:
From the reviews, I think this game could be great in co-op with a squad of dMw'ers :boxing:
Whitey, has your copy turned up yet?
I was expecting it yesterday but it didn't arrive so hopefully today.
If it does then I'll get it installed on my PC tonight but depending on how much I need to upload to the server I wouldn't expect a dedicated server running before the weekend. (why the hell didn't they release a full dedicated server package for download?) :sideways:
It's arrived! I'll get on it when I get home.
no you wont ull log wow!

I was just checking my account was active and it is! (thanks for invite):flirty:
I'm installing ARMA II now. I'll check the size I need to upload once it's done.
UPDATE: This isn't good, I need to upload 8.4GB to the server using FTP at an upload speed of between 40 and 60 KB/s it would take 48 hours to upload. I'll see if I can split it up and compress it to make it doable.
UPDATE 2: The files can be split up easily. I'll batch them up into a reasonable size and upload them to the server over night. It will be a few days to do them all.
Top work. maybe we could have a test Sunday night. if we can drag you away from WOW:norty:

It'll be hard work and I may be kicking and screaming. :flirty:
I had a quick try at the training missions and can see it will take a lot of getting used to. Far too many keys needed for my liking but the graphics look good and I'm sure it will play well once I learn all those keys.
I'll post here when I've got all the files uploaded (the one last night failed half way but I was able to resume this morning before leaving for work). If it's ready for Sunday (should be), we can post up some details in the ARMA II thread for a co-op session. :)
Just got home and it had a broken connection again. Only at 68% of the first file
Just a small update on the server upload. It's about half way there and not looking likely to have it ready for Sunday night. I'm getting regular disconnects and so it's sitting idle for long periods during the night and when I'm at work.
any uploading i can do to help

Thanks, I'll take you up on that offer!
In the folder "...\ArmA 2\AddOns\" sort by name and zip up from
tracked.pbo to the last file
wheeled3.pbo.bi.bisign then ftp the file to the CoD4 server and I can pick it up from there :)
anyone have the ftp details to hand. all i can find is my password
got it
Uploaded. anything else
My second download finished but the third one failed after 150MB.
If you could do plants2_Tree.pdo.bi.bisign to structures.pdo.
Once that's done, that should be us ready to do the registry bits/configuration and try it out.
It's now all in place and I've got it started. I can see it in the game browser but I can't get a connection. It uses ports 2302-2305, could it be a firewall issue?
It's working on port 27016 :)
We just need to figure out how to set up the missions now!
UPDATE:
QuoteFirewall issues
By default the Armed Assault server is reporting to Gamespy and it also uses the Gamespy server to negotiate a NAT traversal. If this does not work reliably for you (e.g. when running behind very strict firewall), you may need to open and/or forward following incoming ports:
port UDP (used for game)
port+1 UDP (used for server reporting)
port+3 UDP (used for VoN transmissions)
Following outgoing ports need to be open as well:
port UDP (used for game)
port+3 UDP (used for VoN transmissions)
Default value of port is 2302, but you may change it by -port command line argument.
It was interesting to see the number of players jumping on the server while we were testing. Now all we need is a good mission selection and some practice with all the keys
This game could be big for us and I'm loving the quality of the jo public we are getting on already.
I'd happily leave stuff uploading if you that would help but I guess you need the game
Otherwise give me a shout if I can :)
I agree, we need to find/create the right missions and there are a few bugs to sort out but from what I've played so far, I like it. It's even kept me off WoW for most of the weekend! :)
Now what are the chances of an ARMAII section in the forum.
If/when it gets adopted as an official game then it would get it's own area. Let's see how it works out and how many dMw members play it.
I'm sorry I'm not up to speed on this but do we have a server up supporting the demo or the full game?
Full game. but worth a buy for team work fans :woot2:

I don't want a full blown section just a little corner somewhere to keep thing tidy for a while.
