Title: Our biggest threat - what's with F-T-L?
Post by: easyed on June 25, 2009, 05:56:24 PM
Who are those guys?

They are gaining on us at a rate of 989,000 ppd and should theoretically pass us in about 4 days.

What is really odd is that while they fold consistently about 1,000,000 ppd they have also lost huge numbers of points  .......

In February they lost over 83,000,000 pts (which is itself 3 times the total pts for dMf)!!!

On June 6, they lost another 45,000,000 pts which shows up as a loss for each of their folders as well.

What is going on??? :g:

Hm that sounds really odd. What do you mean by 'lost'? As in accumulated score not growing as it should?

Bit of research done -  This was dated 25/feb 2009. No doubt they will lose the next batch of points :D

Stanford penalizes Team FTL

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Team FTL was penalized sometime today and we moved up a spot along with a number of other teams.

I filed a complaint to ViJay Pande, providing download link proof of illegal distribution of Stanford software-(via The Pirate Bay), back in December 2008. This Team FTL gained over 6000 active folders and over 100 million points, by including a preset team number, auto installing F@H uniprocessor client, into a popular game patch.

That was interesting. Spreading folding virally.

Interesting but unethical in that they were installing folding with preset team information.

While folding is a great cause, none of us will deny, the people who have had folding installed on to their pc's without their consent should be pretty miffed.

Folding could end up becoming a 'virus' or 'spyware' in many people's eyes (and even anti-virus and anti-spyware software too)

Thanks for the research Lameduck

Sad, sad, sad :sideways:

In racing they would have deserved a permanent ban on all servers :norty:
