Title: Ability to browse but not download images online
Post by: Penfold on June 28, 2009, 11:01:51 PM
I'm looking for a way to display several thousand images online and the ability to let people browse the images but not download them. Obviously they'll need to be in categories and separate folders.

IN an ideal world it'd be nice to let them select the images they want and I get an email and can then arrange it but there needs to be restrictions on what content can be downloaded.

long term it'd be nice to add keywords to them which people can search on and then get matching images.

Cost isn't an issue so long as it performs.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Not sure about the auto e-mail feature, but you could batch number you images so people could ask for a number 10 a 34 and two copies of 67 for example. I use it for all my photo goodness

It's a flash viewer so the files cannot be right clicked and saved. It's not totally foolproof as there are ways to grab flash files but your average Internet user won't have a clue how to do it. Adding a watermark and making the images as small and low res as you can without compromising quality would also help.

I agree with Smilo in all. If you watermark the images you have on line, not many will use them. Yor can watermark them from here: Picmarkr (http://picmarkr.com/)

I'm interested in this too as I have some potentially valuable historic military photos that I would like to show, but I don't want em nicked.
I don't use flickr so I would like to keep them on my own web space, do you know if this allows you to upload to anywhere, or just flickr?

simple viewer allows all kinds of stuff. you can certainly build galleries off line and then upload them to your site
