>> Who are you? Where are you from? How old are you? What kind of work do you do? What's your situation at home like?
hi, i'm john aka deadwrong aka krapenhausen. 33 yo guy from the north of the uk. work as an ops manager for a managed hosting provider looking after staff and data centres. kinda geeky but i like it. everything's good outside of work and wow, live by myself and involved with a girl who lives in dusseldorf who i see every couple of weekends.
>> What kind of internet connection do you have?
8Mb/s broadband from Sky. been pretty reliable as far as uptime is concerned.
>> What are the core specs of your computer?
it's an off the shelf Dell Dimension E520, 3GB RAM, 2.8Ghz Pentium D, with a NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS OC. never really have any FPS / slowdown issues within WoW.
>> How long have you been playing computer ames and what kind?
been playing computer games since i was introduced to Manic Miner on the Spectrum. WoW is the first MMORPG i played and the one i have stuck with. also got a 360 for some more mindless action.
>> What kind of raiding experience do you have?
Vanilla i got to see up to Vael in BWL with my guild of the time Infuse. i joined Genesis part way through TBC and raided with them all the way up to SWP. MT'd pretty much everything up to Brutallus.
stopped raiding due to things at work getting pretty hectic but was convinced to come back for WoTLK where i tanked on Deadwrong through all the initial content. after farming the same bosses for a few weeks i took a break again, party for the same reason and partly due to not being 100% happy with the changes (mainly the prot warrior mechanics but some other stuff too) in WotLK.
>> What other guilds have you been in and wh.y did you decide or were forced to move on?
Genesis was my main guild with my old toon Deadwrong. my new main - Krapenhausen - has always been unguilded.
>> Do you actively play any alts that we could find you in in case we need to contact you?
DW is the only other toon i play and that is usually just for dailies
>> If you are a cross-server applicant, name someone from your home server that can vouch for you.
n/a
>>What are your plans for the game? In what way would you like others to know you? Tell us about your personality, and why you enjoy the game.
Name one thing you don't like about WoW in its current state.
i decided to start playing again about a month ago and wanted a fresh start so rolled a Paladin. i played as ret up until 70 and then dual-specced for holy also. really enjoying healing so have made this my main spec with ret still there for grinding and questing.
i'm still busy with work so playing fairly casually but my appetite for the game is growing again... i'm a fairly laid back guy who enjoys a beer and a good laugh over TS / Vent. wiped enough in my time to see the funny side in them. i do think that blizz have taken the 'welfare epics' thing to the extreme. i dinged 80 last week and already at 1800 healing, 18.5k mana, and 25.5% crit which just seems a bit silly.
Your character

>> Why did you decide to play this class?
wanted a change from tanking and have done some dps before so a healer was the obvious choice. i like plate cause it means i am not squishy!
>> What do you think your class' role is in raid content?
holy spec pala's seem to be strongest on single target healing although a well placed beacon can be nice to spread some healing around the group whilst also focussing on a single target. we've also got some nice CD's to blow such as Lay on Hands, DI, and Hand of Sac which can help in sticky situations. there's also the obvious buffing / cleansing spells which we bring along too.
>> Comment on your build. Why did you choose it? What do you think of other builds of your class? Why didn't you choose one of those? (important question)
cookie cutter Holy spec to be honest. got the 18 points in ret for the increased crit rate to make mana more efficient through illumination.
This guild
>> What do you look for in a guild?
good people who have a nice team spirit and know how to play. people who are willing to teach and learn alike and accept others mistakes in a constructive manner.
>> ''Dead Men Raiding'' - What comes to mind when you see that guild name? There are other guilds on the server, why did you apply to us?
i see DMR as a well established guild on the server who are part of a wider gaming community. my knowledge of some of the people involved in the guild lead me to believe that you are a bunch of decent guys / gals who are progressing well with raiding whilst also maintaining a good guild environment for people to 'hang out' in.
i was tempted to stay unguilded but in all honesty i miss the friendly banter and good times that come with being in a guild with a decent bunch of people.
although my app is primarily a social one i would relish the opportunity to slip into Naxx or even Ulduar with you if you thought i was up to it and there was a spot available.
>> Who do you know in Dead Men Raiding? How do you know them?
i know TL well from my days in Genesis and he also dragged Sheep along to some of our late night booze fueled runs.
>> Have you read our 'what we look for' and 'philosophy' posts? What do you think of them?
yes i have and they are part of the reason i am applying to this guild.
Annoying questions
>> A guildie says something you find offensive, what do you do?
respond appropriately (either to the guildie directly or a superior officer) in the spirit intended.
>> Cake or Pie?
Pie - a pie can be sweet or savory. it's wrong to limit one's choices in life, especially when it comes to food.
anyhow - thanks for reading! hope to hear from you soon.
