Title: merchandise?
Post by: sheepy on July 29, 2009, 12:08:06 AM
who wants what???

not going to post it public, simply due to the fact its going to get messy.

shirts or beer glasses? what do you recon we can sell best? making a good profit?

or is it worth doing it? both these 2 have netted us profit in the past.

been a while since we done either.

A pint glass *with* your name on it.  Now that really would be a worthy piece of merchandise.

I'm flattered that you all want a pint glass with my name on it. I hereby give you the free reign to get 'Benny' Pint Glasses made up.

that was the first one i looked at as well but you can only put a message / text on it and not a logo or design (im thinking of something similar to the last one)

just spoke to the People at dragoncraft. they seem by far the most resonably priced and co-operative ive found.

apart from the prices on the website they also do a "tulip" pint glass, this is cheeper than the other ones Ã,£9.99.

the basic price includes either a few words or a logo, aditional words are 50p per word.

after sweet talking lindsey who answerd the phone she said that if we are ordering 20 ish pieces as i believe we will be then we can have a couple of words for free.

any ideas on what you think we should go for, i personally think that the standard pint glasses (tulip) will be fine.

postage will be a one off Ã,£7-Ã,£10.

If we are charging Ã,£15 per glass then im sure we can raise a little for the server fund in the process.

As a side note from the glasses...

I've had no luck getting any designs through the threads I posted up but if we want to look at just adding some text for the LAN on a T-Shirt/mug etc, then we could point people at our "work in progress" shop (http://deadmenwalking.spreadshirt.net/en/GB/Shop).  Just give me an idea for some text and how we might want it (we can have different text on the front/back/arm etc) and I'll add the product(s) to the shop.

Not sure if Im late to the party, but a friend of mine has just started up in business doing this kind of thing. Had a quick word with him and he can do .5 lt steins with any design and text we want for abot Ã,£7 each including postage.  They arent engraved like the other ones they have a transfer on them I suppose.

Ive got an image of the kind of styles availabe if needed.

For future reference he also does embridery work on tee-shirts, polo shirts, and baseball caps., Mouse mats and coffee mugs as well. Has promised me best rates as well (ex army mate).

Hmmmm, I cant, just noticed he's embedded the image in an email, I can forward the email if you give me an address.

The pic only really shows the 3 styles of glasses available, as for the size of the image he said as long as it physically fits on the glass theres no limit.

np.

I know the unit price on Sheep's is quite high but I have to say Ã,£15 for a pint glass does seem to be a lot of money. Do you think that people will be happy to pay that much?

Also, do we really *need* to be making Ã,£4 of Ã,£5 per glass? AFAIK the funds are looking pretty healthy and if all the attendees show up then we'll be dumping over Ã,£500 into the pot as it is.

What do you think?
Title: merchandise?
Post by: BrotherTobious on August 17, 2009, 01:58:34 PM
I agree Ã,£15 is a little high I think more round the 10ish mark but then the T-shrits went for more, but that was a auction.

Are we doing that again?
Title: merchandise?
Post by: Penfold on August 17, 2009, 02:01:37 PM
Hopefully :-)

We'll put up a post asking for crap and I'm sure everyone will bring something along. Problem is that we don't have Pavlo to buy it all :)

Post by: lionheart on August 17, 2009, 02:12:31 PM
Yea I think Ã,£15 is too high for a pint glass, but if people are prepared to pay it who am I to argue, maybe put it to the vote?
Title: merchandise?
Post by: sheepy on August 17, 2009, 02:16:25 PM
that sounds great lion. can you forward to my dmw email (sheepy@deadmen.co.uk).

if we can get them done for about Ã,£7 then sell them for a little more (not much) then I think generally people will be happier.

Im pretty sure that all the glasses were in the region of Ã,£13-Ã,£15 last time.

Dont get me wrong I am for adding to the community pot I really am but I just felt they wouldnt be sold for that amount.  I would think twice personaly.

I wouldn't think twice.....That is too much. Sorry.

I'm all for contributing but I also like value for money.
Get one from here for Ã,£12.50 that looks more value to me...

I think Ã,£8- Ã,£10 is the top whack really so LH's contact may be a good way to go.

Not putting a dampener on it - but I think we should do a poll to gauge how many of these we're likely to sell and to get people to sign up for them. We certainly do not want to over-order.
Title: merchandise?
Post by: lionheart on August 17, 2009, 03:59:22 PM
Would it be an idea to not put the LAN details on them?
If we just put a design for dMw on them it wouldn't matter if we over order cos we can sell them at the next LAN .
Title: merchandise?
Post by: sheepy on August 17, 2009, 08:41:40 PM
I was planning on doing them pre order then buying a couple extra as there are bound to be a couple of people more wanting them.

Benny them Ã,£12 ones are far to expensive, thats also the price for there standard designs so custom will be more. then taking in to account postage they would end up being Ã,£17-Ã,£20.

im all for Lions contact seems the way to go
Title: merchandise?
Post by: Penfold on August 17, 2009, 08:59:00 PM
Shall we start a poll to see how many we're likely to shift?
Title: merchandise?
Post by: sheepy on August 22, 2009, 12:54:27 PM
Lion can u place a "serious enquirey" with your contact.

find out how much it would be like a logo like the one designed in the design thred.

Will do.
Title: merchandise?
Post by: TeaLeaf on August 22, 2009, 06:08:38 PM
Just a tip for the future - if the poll was made public then you'd be able to see who had voted 'defintiely buying' and we'd have a ready made order list.  For next time maybe?

Just thinking that with potential lead times of 6-8 weeks we need to get these ordered sooner rather than later :)

Just waiting on a final quote from my contact, he has already said no delivery charge as he will deliver to my house( which considering he's in Essex is quite a drive).

Sheepy is in the picture (not the one on the glasses.....).

Ok, just phoned my mate as I haven't heard from him in a while and basically the printer that he uses for the Glasses is bolloxed, Its in the process of being repaired but will take at least 2 weeks.

He says he will still be able to get the glasses done and to me in time but do we want to take the risk?

What do you think?
Title: merchandise?
Post by: sheepy on September 15, 2009, 06:16:41 PM
were still waiting on a final price arnt we?

as long as they are done in time then it will be fine, but we do need the price.
Title: merchandise?
Post by: Penfold on September 15, 2009, 06:21:43 PM
I think we'll be struggling to get anyone else to do it in the timeframe now tbh.

If he can do it and wants to do it then that's fine. However, we do we need the final price asap to confirm commitment from purchasers.

I sent him an email at 6 tonight, just after getting off the phone, still no reply, Im not feeling good about him and our business to be honest.

I just expected him to jump at the chance to have our LAN merchandise orders.

I'll phone him again tomorrow.

Unfortunatly my "contact" has been rather elusive when pressed for a price even though he insisted he could and would do them for us.

Not sure if he will  come through with the goods on time,, but as we are not paying up front Im still gonna see if he can.

I think he would have priced it up had he really wanted to do it tbh.

Sheepy do you want to let the masses know?

We'll get something sorted for April :)
Title: merchandise?

Ok, radical idea here.  Let's plan ahead for LAN XVII.

I would like to do a custom dMw Beer Stein.  Not a LAN specific one, just a dMw branded one and no personal names on it (unless we can find some idiot willing to do them for such a small amount that it makes sense).  If we start planning now we can get it sorted in good time for April.  Thoughts?

good plan, should we go for a 2 tierd thing?

a dMw one - cut glass or fully engraved (would be quite costly)
and a etched cheeper one (to cater for those that wouldnt want to spend the extra??)

It doesn't hold much beer.  OTOH we can get uncut whisky tumblers real cheap, Ã,£1.99 for 6 from Tesco.
