:o  So how can I get a game of CS!!!!
I can't get 'kin' Steam to let me log on. Either my connection isn't up, which it is, or it comes back saying my password is wrong. Tried re-setting it to no avail. Tied creating a new account but it already exists. Any ideas anyone, even Sheepy!  :narnar:

OK Snooks matey, here we go.

In the past................

You download the Steam client or the Steam_cache client.

You install it on your PC.

Steam client asks you for your registration details (explicitly and e-mail address which is your user name as well and password).

You enter the details and Steam client connects to the Steam server to update the  database

Your details are updated and a Steam ID numer is issued

SteamServer transmits the ID number etc. back to your Steam client.

!!!!!! Something goes wrong and your client doesn't get the information!!!!!

Steam server thinks you're registered and your client thinks you're not

Steam server also doesn't convert and update your HL and CS as your client doesn't seem to have registered.

You try to log in again with the user name and password.

You're client thinks you're not registered and so won't update.

Steam server says the user already exists and it aint you, so it won't allow the connection anyway.

You try to put the user info into your client again but it won't accept it as it hasn't been updated.

You get the "The Internet is down or your connection is pooped" dumb message

Your buggered   :(

Solution..................

You leave your original Steam folders alone. DON'T delete them

You re-register with a new e-mail.

The servers are quieter now and Valve has bug fixed loads of stuff

Steam server sets up a second account and gives you a second ID.

You update Steam client and get everything working.

Note: you will not be able to connect to a server as your CD Key will appear invalid (it's assigned to your original e-mail)

You may also get a snotty e-mail from Valve about bogus CD-Keys sent to the second e-mail addy you used...ignore.

Copy Steam Apps from the second install into the first install.

Restart Steam client.

Use the original user Id and password.

Login and get fragging.
