I was talking to Ghost about this yesterday so I don't seem to be the only one who has a problem with this. 2 Problems. One I've solved, and one I can't.
1) When I join through HLSW it sometimes grabs my user name from CS:S and overwrites my username, giving me the -=[]=- around dMw rather than |
Fix in the server properties in HLSW I added "+name dMw|T-Bag" to the launch parameters. Now everytime it sets my name. Sorted.
2) When I join through HLSW steam chat doesn't work. I use HLSW to check when people are on and it seems like a pain to the boot into the game normally and create a favourite when I can boot straight into the server by clicking a single button.
I've tried adding the .exe as a non-steam game and putting +connect etc. It works with a shortcut...but you can't add a shortcut as a non-steam game.
At the moment I'm trying to get my head around making a .exe file which will launch the shortcut that boots into the server directly. If I can do that I can add it as a non steam game and have steam chat working.
There MUST be an easier way than this. Anyone got a suggestion, or got something working?
I just want a shortcut to load up straight into the dMw server like the L4D ones do, but since you have to add the +multiplayer to CoD4 it seems to mess up.
I just join via steam games:)

Don't shout at 't likkle lad. I prefer to
JOIN VIA HLSWDo you have the alternative name in the name box? If you do, make sure you select the dMw| name before you click 'connect'. I hope I didn't frighten you. :D

As in load the game and then join the server? Or is there a shortcut to get you straight into a specific server?
(And yes I've got the two names, one for CS:S and one for CoD4, if I play CS:S it remembers that name when I next play CoD4. I think this like overwrites any name data and lets you have it always the same)
in steam games, right click on Cod, choose properties then change the target to this:
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3mp.exe" +connect 77.108.129.47:28960
