Title: A malt a day.
Post by: Penfold on September 03, 2009, 10:06:36 PM
Just wondering if we should start a thread on who's planning to bring which Malt to the LAN.

As a rule I really only buy Tali but rather than doubling up I'll go and get something else if others are also planning to bring tali

Perhaps an Auchentoshan (great to say when pished) or, if someone would care to go halves, we could and should probably invest in a Dallas Dhu while there are a few bottles left. Having closed in 1983 stocks are drying up but a 25-yr old is still available for about Ã,£65. Anybody interested?

Might I suggest a 10 yr Glengoyne? It tastes good for a 10-year-old (whiskey, Benny!)

I have my eye on a nice bottle of Laphroaig at the moment especially for the occasion

I could bring a bottle of Asley Compass Box whiskey which I love, but I might end up sleeping on someones floor rather than going home!!

On another note, the Glenmorangie Port Wood finish is becoming strangely rare I am not sure why and its getting hard to get hold off.

Its a stunning scotch and I would recommned it whole heartedly

Put me down for half Pen, I'll sort you the cash at the LAN or before whenever you want it.

Yay. I'll get it ordered

I don't think you'll be disappointed. For me it came out as my favourite followed by the Tali.

I go order it now :)

I could bring Amstel Malt, Grolsch Malt or Bavaria Malt.

Though Malt means alcohol free, and Amstel, Grolsch and Bavaria are Dutch beer brands, so I guess noone is interested in those? :P

Penfold, you're not going have another crack at that 17 year old Amy Special Reserve?

I'll probably bring a bottle of whatever I brought to last years BBQ. 18 year old Tali I think?

I've ordered our Dallas Dhu (we can sort it out at the LAN). They're down to their last casks or so (this is a 1982).

I had planned on having some 40 yo glenfarclas left from wetting the baby's head!!  Sadly it has been finished and was rather nice.  I will try and find something to bring along but I doubt it will be quite as nice.

Is there anyone who is planning on bringing a malt along whom hasn't purchased it yet?

I have the bottle of Dallas Dhu which TL and I were sharing but now as I can't come along I'm looking for someone who would like to take over my half :).

Cheers

Sure. NP.
Have to say I'm more than a little gutted as it's been sitting on my desk for a fortnight and I've been staring longingly at it.  :crying:(I didn't dare take it home as the temptation would have proved too much).

Mind you, it couldn't be in better hands :)

Thanks Benny but I think Razor Rees lives down the road from where I work so I can do a drop off to him.

Appreciate the offer though :)
