cheers for a good race evening. Constantly people on all evening, which I know because so was I :D

As someone said: it takes ages to get it up to speed, so avoid sliding. Well, on a Rally cross track that is difficult! A fairly clean night and all my crashes I managed all on my own (150 km/h into a barrier - and on to the roof? bah!)

Top class combo! Any other car has felt a bit too fast on these rallycross tracks, but this is great.
Title: Reports from the 1h race please

I would have wanted to be there, but did not have time... How was the race? Did anyone save the replay?

I finished the race :)
No practice not time for setup development this week, but I jumped in (and out a few times, configuring the new laptop does not go smoothly :D) just before quali.
I asked and received many sets, and randomly selected Lameduck's for the qual and race.

Qualified last despite a pb around 1:24.5 (because the even slower guy left before the race) but Lameduck fumbled into the last spot of the grib.

I took it easy in the first laps, then tried to participate more. Very nice fight (with minor bumps) until the 1/2 hour mark (thanks Lameduck, Oldbloke and BobTheBike for that) with overtakings, mistakes and tension. I got ahead of the group and set a 1:23.6 pb, nearly 2 seconds off the lead pack...

Then I misshifted (3rd to 1st too quickly), killed the engine and let Lameduck past in 1/2 a second.
The following 1/2 hour was a bit dull, I could not gain on Lameduck due to a snail like top speed (high 1:24  to low 1:25 best possible).
Oldbloke rolled it, BobTheBike lost it somehow so I stayed here.
Even got lapped at the 58 minutes mark!

No replay - forgot, sorry.
Overall good combo (but I had higher expectations), and my clutching ankle got tired after 30 minutes race. New laptop runs perfectly, steady 100FPS with high graphic settings and even some AA :)

I reckon this has been the best combo for ages myself. All week has seen some cracking, really close racing and its been alot if fun.

For the hour I quali'd 3rd with Jammin 2nd and Sombody on 'poll' (hows that doors:D).   Although Somebody got away a little bit, i managed to keep with Ben and hasle him continuosly. As i could do no more than draw level on the odd occasion, thats where we stayed until i pitted at the half hour. Every time i tried something different it went pear shaped including a rather over excited slide into Bens side at the big right after the jump. I felt abit guilty,  appologised and gave way:D.
Out of the pits i found Dee and couldnt get by him either till he pitted about 4 laps later. It was abit lonely then for 15 min's or so untill Ben pitted and emerged three inches in front of me at T1. I resumed my harrasment but still couldnt get by despite Oldies recomendations for tapping rear bumpers in mid drift.
Oh yeah Oldie, to whom were you refering when you announced 'its Mr Smooth and Captain Chaos'?:lmfao:
Unfortunately, Ben was so low on fuel and had to pit to finish so i was through to 2nd. Unlucky matey, I cant see how i would of gotten round ya otherwise.
Overall, the 15 mins on my own was hard but the 45 mins of trying to get by was great fun.
Well done Somebody for the win and all that got round. And to everyone for a great weeks racing.:yahoo:
Cheers folks.

Congrats Somebody :yahoo:

Bad luck Crazy, we were expecting you.

I couldn't get a good first split all night, the first corner played me up with oversteer, it could have been the wind . Steve kept me on my toes most of the race despite me trying a little psychology as I held him at bay by holding the racing line. My fuel calcs were perfect, it was Somebodys slightly faster than expected pace that meant an extra lap at the end forced me into the pits for a splash of gas and into third place.

Excellent week of racing there, a good laugh :D

Yeah - sorry I missed this one too ....... I think my gpu is baked

I have an 8800 GT that's been running fine for 2 years ... maybe the 24/7 F@H took it's toll.  The card had been running pretty warm (81 C folding and 76 C on LFS).  Now, using PC Wizard to monitor temps, I'm getting a gpu reading that cycles thru 3 temps instead of just one (something like 192 C -> 128 C -> 64 C then starts over again.

Folding causes the card to fail pretty quickly, and watching TV or LFS will usually cause it to fail in a few minutes.  I can usually get away with browsing the net, but sometimes it fails even when idle.

This does sound like the card overheating doesn't it??  Probably get a new card asap ..... til then, doubt I'll be racing or folding :crying:

Unlucky ED and Andy.  Not familiar with "PC wizard", but those temps sound odd.  I'm pretty sure those Nvidia cards have a core slow down temperature of 105c, for safety.  Anyway, I guess you checked it for dust build up etc? those fully enclosed cards are a bugger for getting clogged.  EVGA precision tool and Speed fan are my preferred tools for checking temps.

The race:

Was a good 'un. The first 3 flew off into the distance over the first few laps, and I had a rabid :) Deeslider hanging on to my bumper for the first 30 minutes.  He was very strong into turn one, almost quick enough to make a pass by turn 2.  But it seemed I was much quicker on the second section.  It was an interesting and enjoyable race for the first half.  However, I think I must of damaged my engine with too much engine braking some where around my pit stop as I couldn't do any better than .24's for the rest of the race.  Well done SomeBody, excellent drive.

Great combo!
