Title: Need Some Help Here
Post by: SecretSquirrel on September 17, 2003, 07:55:31 PM
I am unable to create an account. I have attempted to create accounts with 3 different email add and I'm running out.

I have installed the upgrade and am using 128kb connection.

Each time I create new account I get same error message:

creat account failed.steam process call(login, blah blah lots of numbers and stuff)failed with error200:connection reset.winsock error 10054.

Any help would be appreciated.

I know what you say BB but I've been trying since sat just to reg. I'm also wandering about the significance of the error message - haven't seen reports by anyone else of this type.

It's a bug in Steam related to winsock.

I might be wrong but I don't think you are actually getting the e-mails registered. Have you created a folder with the e-mail as the name

i.e. C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\your@email.here\...

If not, then you may well still be able to use the original e-mail, as Steam hasn't accepted it yet. As they say keep trying. Until the bug is fixed you just have to keep bashing away.

If do have a folder in \steamaps\ named as your chosen e-mail and/or you receive a message saying "This e-mail already in use" then you have indeed been set up on the database and are now part of the knackered authentication problem. See threads elsewhere for a solution.

Good Luck
