Title: Socket A Cpu Coolers
Post by: TeaLeaf on September 18, 2003, 08:01:40 AM
There is a short review over here (http://www.dansdata.com/quickshot004.htm) that would not normally be worth a mention, but it includes a short review of the Thermal Transtech NPH-2.

The NPH-2 is a heat pipe design that is eerily similar to the Aerocool Deep Impact DP-101 design that I used in my ocerclocked system build.  Wonder if Aerocool will challenge the copyright infringement because it is practically identical!

Thermal Transtech specialise in heat pipe cooling systems, and a big fat heat column sits in the middle of this one.  It manages to score an absolutely superb 0.49°C/W with its stock fan (one of the all-time best results seen by Dansdata) and when the fan was upgraded to a more powerful 70mm TMD it reduced its score even further to 0.45°C/W.  That result means a 2.0GHz PIV (478) would run at under 34 degreees centigrade  :D   That is cooler than an Thermaltake SLK600 or SLK700 with a screaming delta fan     It is only beaten by the SLK800 (with delta fan) that scores 0.46C/W - but the NPH-2 beats this if you upgrade the fan slightly as described above.

A top-rated air cooler.
