I found a pretty helpful link from the steam forum posted by some guy from steam called Thegreatcow.
Covers things like stay away from the 500kb stean installer stay with the cahe version, also covers some tcp/ip , graphics & sound issues.
Theres also a vague bit about when won will be switched off.

Well that link explains all last nights arsing around.
In fact amongst the foaming rants that forum has masses of useful informaton about Steam, it's fall down dead servers and fixes for lots of stuff.
Good reading ;)
Found the answer to my own problem. Many of you will have heard me huffing and puffing about not being able to type or talk when dead. The answer is iffy .dlls. Namely vgui.dll and/or vgui2.dll. I replaced them with someone who did not have the problem (thanks Squ0nk) and lo and behold I can communicate!
I didnt have this problem until last night.
I lied, God help me, I lied. I thought I had cracked it but after several games with it working perfectly, it went up the pictures again. It's got to do with those .dlls though, betcha!
Mine is the same, works for a few rounds then goes. Also my mouse pointer turns up every now and then.
Oh by the way Steams evil plans are voice activated, i shouted at it tonight and it crashed my computer. <_<
Well I'll be buggered! It started working properly again. This is embarrassing.

I have also problems with dll's. Was searching for the answer but couldn't find it. Didn't have time, busy with work and school and I'm off for a little holiday with my work (5 days of Malta). After that I might be so freshend up that I'll take a real good look. ;)

Yep.
We're all hoping that the LAN solution will be delivered by VALVe before our LAN.
If not, then we will be playing CS1.5 at the LAN.
o ok
If that's the case Oldie do you think we should remind everybody not to delete 1.5. I know it's unlikely anybody would. Just a thought.
Bit late. I've already let VALVe 'Steam'roller my 1.5 so I'd have to install it again myself. :lmfao:
I'll get me coat.
Mine's still intact. :narnar:
