Title: Legion Development
Post by: TeaLeaf on September 23, 2009, 10:09:38 AM
DML was formed on 20th September 2009 and we now need to start planning ahead to formalise the Legion, its structure, membership criteria etc.  How we do this will become clearer as we level and experience more end-game content, but for now I have copied from my original post so that we can start developing the structures and systems we will need.

Quote from: TeaLeaf;289804Proposal for comment:

I propose that the above volunteers, Armitage, b00n, Bellanie, DannagE, DuVeL, Jim, KKND, Luminance, lunares, valdeko and I, will form a loose 'Founding Members' Club' for DML and share the setup costs of the Legion (est 12,000 Kinah) to be reimbursed from DML's Legion Bank when possible.  Other members may contribute to start up costs and costs will reduce the more members contribute.  Initially I propose that I be the one to open the Legion at the Sanctuary, so early cash donations will be needed as L10 comes around pretty quickly.

I further propose that the Founding Members manage the Legion for a period of up to 2 months from launch.  Before the end of this period the Founding Members will formalise the Legion structure and set in place documented rules for the ongoing administration of the Legion.  This will allow time for members to see if they will be continuing to play the game and for a proper set of rules and a Council  to be established.

I also propose that by the end of the two month period I pass leadership of the Legion to a newly agreed DML Council member (this might or might not be one of the Founding Members).

If the game is well supported then I propose that the new head of the Legion would be given dMw Game Admin status and take on responsiblity for running the Aion section within dMw and the other responsiblities & duties accompanying Game Admin status.

The proposal is for this Legion to remain a dMw Legion in terms of its ethics and standards and for leadership of the Legion to be retained within dMw.

In the mean time, can everyone remember that Centurion members can do Legion invites (the in-game command is /ginvite playername) so if you party with someone you think fits our mold then invite them to the Legion please.  DML will need critical mass to succeed and we need to get that critical mass from the Telemachus server players.

So for the moment, recruitment is down to YOU!

Can I suggest that we might want to think about firing a few recruitment messages into global chat channels then? I already saw some other legions starting this over the last couple of days.

Happy to try whatever options we have. My only concern is that we have no quality control when it comes to a general shout in channels and could end up getting a bunch of retards whom we later or more immediately need to kick.  My preferred route remains to invite people we party with and who seem good, but what do others think we should do to drive numbers up and get the critical mass we need?

Me and KKND had a few guys joining our party which seemed to be okay guys but over VC's we had a chat, how do we know they are mature enough for Deadmen as in age and such?
Just hint them towards the forums and so?

If you get on with them and they do not appear to be idiots, ie you seem to like them, then try them out and ginvite them.  It's not rocket science and being old does not guarantee being drama-free, just apply common-sense.

We could also limit everyone to have only his main char in the guild, that way we can have 30 unique people in the legion.

Aye, you can kick some alts (like mine) to free up some space.  As I said to DA last night, it needs 1.2 million Kinah for a level 2 guild, so we'll all need to chip in to get it done.  I was not able to get online last night (queue fun) but will be on today.

Aye, we'll get there no worries, Kinah/gold gets far easier as you level up so I am sure it will nto be too long before we have enough in stock to achieve the purchase of L2.

PM received from KKND.
Quote from: KKNDHi TL..

Whe have recruit new members week agao maybe longer,
But they aren't active on both ways thats in game and on the forum.
Some dont even sign up on forum.

So the idea pops up too remove these peeps so whe make space for people that wants too play and shows up here and in game.

As you are the only one that can do that will you take care off this.

KKND

Is this worth pursuing to free up spaces in guild before we get to Level 2?

As for my own poor attendance, I will be attempting to log on tomorrow morning.  We'll see what th quees are like then.

Unfortuantly none of the guild have the kick/remove button to kick those who were inactive and not playing anymore. So would it be possible to promote/change the rights available to the officers in the guild?

Seems many people have multiple alt's in the guild, so i would please ask that for the moment you only have your main in it. Once were full again, im sure people can start to donate to make the legion bigger (which will be 40k per player) not a lot when you start to get higher in level.

Tl ive removed my old toon "show" and replaced it with "charge" (templar) so if you wouldnt mind promoting the new toon instead would be great :)

I can add kick to the permissions tomorrow when I log on.  Multiple alts should be removed yes, I had expected that to be done by their owners, but we can force the issue if they have not acted.

I have someone that shares the deadmen spirit, couldn't invite him due to lack of spaces :(

We should have no alts at all in the guild, rather see 30 unique characters untill we hit lvl 2

rank 2 members have kick permissions and can action the kicking of alts.  About an hour after you posted this Lumi there were spaces as I had kicked the alts we knew about.  Anyone that is clearly not online regularly should be up for a kick too imo, but a PM to them first to give them fair warning might be in order otherwise we might kick some good people.
