I went to get my CD key off the registry, having lost the box it came with, but since installing Steam I cant seem to find the CD Key entry in the registry???
HELP!!!!

HKEY_CURRENT_USER ..... SOFTWARE ..... VALVE ..... HALF-LIFE ..... SETTINGS ..... KEY.

It'll be a 13 digit number but should be broken down into a 4, a 5 and a 4 for re-entry. I.e 5478265559876 become 5478-26555-9876 when you need to use it again.

The KEY entry is missing, as is the data folder from my CS 1.5, WTF????

Twiggy I fear you allowed Steam to delete your old copy of Half Life. So you are indeed buggered :(

Unless someone has a brainwave I fear you're going to have to buy another copy from those lovely folk at Valve.

Not sure if this will work but I've got a copy of HL Generations which comes with multiple keys.

I'm obviously using the HL one myself but I'll PM you the CS Retail one.

Might work. 8)

I never allowed it to overwrite? I simply installed Steam with the cache, went to get the CD Key and bam, it were gone...

Grrrrr, started install, all going well then I get to
"Converting Base Goldsrc Shared Content Localized files into steam cache..."
And it locks up....

I got that several times and then it ignored that fact the files were there and ddidn't migrate them. :(

I did notice though on the install it says you have Platinum Pack yadda yadda, this allows you one months free subscription.....

Does that mean we will ahve to pay them for this SH*T piece of software????? :rant:
