Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has been having problems with the Public server? I normally have a rock stredy ping 39, and rock steady framerates, but lately I have noticed the ping is 999, although the figures seem to be fibbing a bit. Also I have been suffering from poor framerate. Can anyone shed some light on this problem, or is my PC cooking another graphics card?

This happened previously too, a long time ago, and seemed to be related to an update iirc
This often happens on some servers. The problem, if any, is entirely server-side from what I can gather (some servers have the "problem", others don't). The best thing to do is to just ignore it.
As for your framerate, it could be any number of reasons. Programs running in the background, being forced to reset the PC after a hard lock-up (this used to happen to me - shutting down and restarting usually fixed it), or it could be overheating. Check the usual suspects (stop virus scans while playing, check for broken fans, etc). If all that turns out fine and your FPS is still lower than normal, maybe try lowering the graphical settings? I don't have a "technical wizardry" degree, but I hope all that helps. ;)
it was back to normal last night:blink:
I had restarted the server when I read this post "just in case". Not sure if that resolved it but if it happens again we can give it a try.

Well, looks like the problem is my end, CoD4 is still up the creek :angry:. I re-installed game and patches, checked hardware (looked to see if all the things like fans were still plugged in properly), de-fragged my HHD and did a full virus scan (nothing truned up). My framerate is still bouncing between 7-8fps and 40ish every half a second or so, weird thing is the other games I play such as Company of Heros and CoD world at War (yes I really do play and enjoy it) both of which are pretty much as demanding as CoD4 work just fine:eyebrow:.
new gfx drivers needed perhaps?
