Title: Admins on IRC
Post by: kregoron on October 08, 2009, 06:35:48 PM
After a few incidents on irc.

It was last night decided by the admins & members alive at the time on irc that a few rules have been set in place.

1. Just because your a dmw member, doesnt make you admin on irc, this rule was set to prevent any more incidents with newcomers to irc playing around with Q flags on the channel.

2. Admin status will not be given to anyone using webclients.

3. Please use your forum nick on the channel.
Bots are not registered on the forum ofc, so add a BOT somewhere within the nick, like: DMWbot, DeadBot or whatever you wish.
Admins previously not using their nick has been removed from the admin list to clean it up.

4. Only people regularly on irc has been taken into consideration for the cleaned up admin list.

These rules were decided as we have had a few incidents on irc, borking up the channel. And to ensure the internal and external security on the channel.
This also puts the amount and distribution of admins more like the rest of the community, as it was the only section where everyone was admin.

Other then that come join us people, irc is a great place :D

What they said. It's far too quiet at the mo. The thing is, people seem to drop in for 5 mins, say hi, and then leave when they don't get a response quickly. We're generally all at work. so we idle in the IRC channel while working and check it occasionally when we're at the desk or whatever (My client notifies me in the taskbar whenever anyone says anything and the window isn't in focus).

Interesting conversations kick off and then everyone pays attention properly for a while, but we're not just all slacking off work and chatting all the time ;-) I just have the client sat in the background unless I see someone has said something.

**bump**

Here the link to the webchat (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/cmps_index.php?cc=irc).

And for those that prefer actual clients...have a look here and see if you find one you like:

I know some of the regulars use NN-Script (http://nnscript.esnation.com/)
Another basic script is P&P (Peace&protection) http://pnp.the-i.org/ (http://pnp.the-i.org/)

Several others can be found here: Linky (http://www.mirc.net/view/mscripts)

Pop in for a visit and say hello :byebye:

Man, I haven't used IRC in an age.. I assume we're on Quakenet?

I'll have a stab at getting nnscript loaded up on my PC tonight :)
