I don't know about you lot, but I find admin very difficult on CoD4.
The main problem as I see it, is not knowing what is going on with the other admins, and only being able to speak to 1 admin at a time via steam chat (assuming they even have it working).
I often miss steam messages in the heat of battle, and the in-game chat messages scroll round too quickly; the only way to re-cap chat is to shift/` for console, then to hunt through a screen of multi-coloured words for the bit you want.
My idea is to have a TeamSpeak channel for the admins, and to bind a different key to normal chat, so that we can communicate with each other for admin purposes only. (or for Pen to chat-up SJ:narnar:) and also communicate with the rest of one's team as usual.
We could ask an admin on the opposing team to watch out for X, and request them to have a word with Y etc.
What do you think?
i like it  def worth a try :thumbsup2:
I like it anything to make life easier :)
Yea, good idea.
We use this 'admin' channel a lot in WoW for example. We call it a 'beep' channel as we say 'beep' at the start of any sentence for that channel so users know which channel it is said in. Sounds stupid but it works.
sounds good.
Perhaps we could try it tomorrow night?
I think it's fairly easy to set up a new channel, or we could use one of the existing cod channels
I think it's a superb idea and should make your jobs a lot easier in identifying, and dealing with, miscreants.
I think having a 'beep' at the beginning of the sentence is a good idea too as you do need to differentiate channels. Just try not to get them mixed up so you find you're slagging people off over open comms lol.
Finally, please don't do all your banter over it though as the rest of us will miss the chatter :flirty:.
Good idea :thumbsup2:
No banter allowed??? WHAT?? But.. but.. but what am I supposed to do then? :narnar:
Seriously tho, I love the idea and would like to try it out tonight, so game on :)
That's not what I said :)
What I said was please don't do all your banter on the admin channel as the rest of us will miss it:flirty:
:roflmao:
Well we tried it tonight and, apart from a few button errors, we seemed to make a go of it.
Snokio went spec to watch a poss nade spammer and kept in touch/let us know what was going on to good effect.
I was a bit worried that banter would take over, but after we got going , the channel was pretty clear of chit-chat.
I wouldn't want to stop banter completely, as it can be very amusing, and, after all, we are playing for fun. as long as it stays within reason it should be ok.
One possible problem I can see is the possibility of cheating or ghosting allegations being thrown at us. Therefore I think we should have a STRICT policy about this aspect.
What did the rest of you think?
It did occur to me that there is a potential risk of being accused of ghosting and cheating but if people can't trust the admins then we're on a hiding to nothing whatever we do.
I for one wouldn't have the slightest concern that you, or any of the other admins, were using TS to cheat. Possibly to slag off my mediocre skills yes, but to cheat never.
Make sure that when you're saying adminny (new word there) things that you've pressed the right push-to-talk button :D
Ok, heres a thought. I was thinking the other night when we were on TS, that since its no password or anything on the cod4admin channal thingy people tend to pop by and listen to it. Is that an ok thing or should we do something with that?
My suggestions then would be:
1. Have 2 PTT buttons so that we can have the admin on the other one (like in wow) (this reqiures we register the admins to the TS server.)
2. Add a password on a designated channal.
Two pennies :)
Well my take is this, I don't particularly mind who is listening in (dMw'ers only of course) as long as the channel is kept relatively clear for adminning.
The occasional comment or quip is fine by me as long as it's not constant.
It's been fine so far IMO.
tbh its only the admins and a few others (mainly wow players) who also play cod that will be dropping in to chan

And very welcome you all are too:D
Get on the server for a real laff though:boxing:
Is there a way we can Password protect it please, getting non admins joining the admin chat.
Thanks
:withstupid: It should be passwordprotected. I know some who will join everytime we are playing now. A little annoying, but thats me.
Make it a main channel and pw it
