Powerful specs and Android 2.0 showcase... and if you ask me it looks like ****.

Most likely not coming for Europe but who knows. If these are the specs and functions to expect soon, combined with Android 2.0, it looks like a great improvement anyhoooooo.......
Quote- Itââ,¬â,,¢s running Android 2.0. Duh.
- Itââ,¬â,,¢s thin. Just slightly thicker than an iPhone 3GS and the thinnest QWERTY-slider weââ,¬â,,¢ve ever seen.
- It is the fastest Android device weââ,¬â,,¢ve ever used. (Itââ,¬â,,¢s running a TI OMAP3430 processor)
- The feel of the device is very reminiscent of the OQO 02 model computer. Just smaller. Itââ,¬â,,¢s metal with a non-spring-assisted slide, very sturdy, and half soft-touch plastic.
- Awesome capacitive display. Plus itââ,¬â,,¢s huge. Easily the best screen weââ,¬â,,¢ve ever seen on an Android handset, and an amazing screen overall.
- The QWERTY keyboard is actually pretty usable and has a soft-touch rubberized finish. Weââ,¬â,,¢ve been told the keyboard design isnââ,¬â,,¢t final on this unit, thus the two no-shows.
- Have we mentioned this phone flies? Itââ,¬â,,¢s the Android device to beat, and easily the most impressive. From what weââ,¬â,,¢ve been told, Google had a direct hand in the Motorola Droid. Something to the point of almost dictating every move Motorola made when designing and making the phone. Interesting, huh?
- Thereââ,¬â,,¢s a desktop cradle/charger that will ship with the Motorola Droid that weââ,¬â,,¢ve been playing around with. It turns your Droid into a ââ,¬Å"multimedia stationââ,¬Â and displays local weather, the time, etc.
- No one wants to listen, but it makes the CLIQ looks like a childââ,¬â,,¢s toy (partly because it is, and partly because the Droid, even in its non-final form, is the most impressive phone weââ,¬â,,¢ve used since the iPhone. Itââ,¬â,,¢s positively amazing).

Possibly another reason to hold off buying a Hero, then. :g:

As I also write, i won't come to the European market first. This specific test model is for XSD%Ã,¤#%Ã,¤#MA or what it's called, i.e. US market. I say Hero :)
Looks like my first post wasn't off the mark - the design is quite similar to the original plans
http://www.pcworld.com/article/174589/first_look_verizon_droid_with_google_maps_gps.html
although the CPU turned out to be less powerful.
I hope the reason 1.6 hasn't been released for the Hero is due to them holding out for 2.0. I can see the point, since the custom HTC-interface already provides several of the features that 1.6 introduces to Android phones in general.
mmmmm, combined inbox :D

That is a nice touch. I know of other Android users who wanted that, but I have always just used the gmail-app (I route all mail to that, thanks to some help from Bob. I am most pleased with being a gmail/gcal user when having a droid :)
Ditto, GMail/Gcal here on my Hero.
