Question:
Is it any good
Option 1: es, it\'s the new coming, I am simple and am fooled by updated graphics!

Option 2: \'m not sure, it plays alright but the proof will be in how the versus is handled.

Option 3: t\'s awful, if I wanted to play a game like this I\'d have invested more time in TF2.

So what are your thoughts. Personally I'm disappointed. It feels cartoony and the fact it's daylight makes it a different game to me.
I like the gritty feel of the first one and until we play versus I'm still undecided. The first one has a good balance, but I'm concerned that with a charger and a spitter you could pretty much wipe out half a team relatively easily.
The comedy melee weapons, as Sn00ks mentions are over powered and whilst I like the new handling of the pistol/dual pistols etc, I'm not sure it makes a huge difference. It's nice, but it's not the 'Dawn of the Dead' I was expecting.
Let's have the feedback then!!
Still trying to get the steam update hopefully solved that now. Am out for a couple of days but can't wait to try it on Thurs if anyone will be online.
Well, I like it :D
The new weapons, whilst not wildly different from the originals, do offer some variety. For example, two pump-action shotguns with slightly different chokes. Oh, and the Desert Eagle clearly rocks.
VS mode is certainly going to be tricky for the survivors, but they do have some nice new toys. The adrenaline and defibrilator are both pretty damn usefull, and I can see the boomer bile being handy when facing down a tank.
As with the original demo, I'm sure we've only seen a small slice of what L4D2 has to offer.
The original has more atmosphere. OK the updated graphics are good and there are some nice touches like zombies trailing intestines after they are shot etc. A mixture of day and night for the levels would be good.
For me it has always been the versus play that I have enjoyed most and the new SI will make the Survivors job really difficult.
It may be that they are just over-powered but then you have the one-hit kill from the melee weapons so that could off-set the advantage? It may need a completely different playing style.
I can't wait to ride Benny until he crumples to his knees :dribble:

......
I'm actually looking forward to this (L4D2 I mean!) - I know the developers have got themselves into a bit of a pickle because the scripted movie-esque 'scenes' make the essecial game inflexible for some...
But on the up side, it's just plain fun.
There have been a lot of more 'open' games recently that have failed dismiley on this one aspect of game design.
Yeah - I'm easily fooled! :)
The music is shocking.
Jury's out with me too.
I've just watched some more trailers and 'realism' mode may be more closely linked to the original.
I don't doubt the fun aspect and will hold my judgement until we've had a right good bash!
This looks more like it;

(even if it is a ropey xbox video)
If you haven't done so already, I'd reccomend running through the demo on Expert difficulty setting.
It's bloody hard which makes it alot more tense and, imo, more fun :)
I see what you mean about it looking cartoon like, but the zombies look far more realistic than the first one...
The weapons are awesome and I know guns are all over America, but AK47, really..?

Hmm I'm not so sure about that. I quite like the New Orleans twist on the original soundtrack. Maybe it's because I have the music volume turned down so it isn't as pervasive?
I quite like the music, I guess it's just personal taste.
You can always switch it off :)
its just not the same... if they have released this next november so l4d was 2 yrs old and had 2 yrs worth of grapical improvment and gameplay then maybe it would be good
still too close to the original too be anything more then extra content
Realistic zombies eh? :g: Sounds intriguing. :D
If they had added this content to LFD i reckon it would have ruined it so i am happy they made a new game i mean seriously all these addons would have been a whole host of changes.
Remember the last time valve had any of our money was the orange box and lfd2 is justified as a paid add on after how many freebies have been given out with tf2.
I am undecided as to whether it will be 4 v 4
there are essentially 8 classes for infected now.
Charger, hunter, spitter, jockey, witch, boomer, smoker and finally tank
Whether we only have four and how many of the new classes we actually see per map is still unknown.
Also we don't know hoe versus will play either or whether cmapaigns will be 5 levels long.
So we may see a 6 v 6 or something similar to the original 4 v4.
Theres also a whole host of new modes which haven't been blanked out for a reason so we can have a think about what they are for example whats realism?
I'm still waiting for the demo to be ready for download :crying:
Realism is in my post above.
Basically the glowing ready-brek lines are off. So you have to hug together as a team.
The other one is collecting items from around the map and bringing them back to a central spot. Such as fuel.
The semi dynamic weather looks good mind. To save you scrolling up.

It'll be 4 v 4. They can't have more people on one side than the other and they haven't mentioned who the extra 2 characters would be.
As for the demo is whole it's rather disappointing so far but it could get better with more levels and versus. The daylight level design and the look of the zombies isn't my cup of tea.

They could easily use characters from l4d1..
