any 1 playing this game
its a great new rpg from bioware
thinking of it.. what's it like?
I've been playing through it, a very good game.
Think Neverwinter Nights meets Mass Effect.
There's a good review by John Walker here: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=226557
Got it, been playing thought it. Really like it, but damn is it hard. I've had to drop it down to easy mode to be able to get past most of the larger fights. I have absolutely no idea what i'm doing wrong. I've got all the tactics set up, i'm positioning my guys and controlling their abilites, but a lot of the time on anything above easy i'm just getting completely overwhelmed if there's more than about 5 or 6 standard guys vs my party of 4.
I'm thinking of getting this. Is the Ã,£40 much better than the Ã,£30 version?
EDIT: I decided not to wait and bought the Ã,£40 version. That way if people tell me it's better I won't wish I'd spent the extra Ã,£10. If it's worse I'll cry myself to sleep for a couple of night and then be fine with it.
There's a Ã,£40 version? I got mine for Ã,£26 from Play. I mostly avoid getting special editions these days. Some come bundled with stuff like free extra DLC, but in most cases it's just some extra gear in game that I really don't need to play anyways.
WoW's special editions, with hardback artbooks and the like, they're worth the cash. DA:O, less so IMO. I recently got the SE of Forza 3 (was Ã,£40 on Blockbuster compared with Ã,£55 everywhere else). I still kinda wish I hadn't shelled out the extra for what I got. If i'd paid Ã,£55 I woulda been seriously grumpy.
Having said that, DA:O is a brilliant game. Found a load of bugs on the PC version though. Nothing completely game stopping, but i've already had the following:
1) 'Free' DLC (comes with new copies of the game and is linked to your account, presumably to encourage people to buy not rent or rip) doesn't work right. I got the first quest, but can't do the follow on because the location hasn't appeared on my map to visit. Can 't go back and retry thr conversation that should have made it appear, cos that map location has now vanished.
2) Several items don't show any stats when they should do, so i've had to go online to find out what they actually *do*.
3) Did a conversation, killed an evil demon thing, person I was trying to free didn't get freed. Tried to talk to them, and it rolled me through the conversation with the demon again, only this time the voice was coming from empty air. Took a differnet path through the conversation, and this time the person got freed.
4) One of the 'free' DLC items is a book that gives you a single extra skillup point to spend. Didn't use it initially cos I wanted ot see how I was going to play before deciding where to allocate it. Now it appears to be breeding in my backpack. Last time I looked I had 15 of them. This is a known bug, which i'm abusing horribly to overpower my characters ;)
Last time I checked, the game told me i'd played for 25 hours so far, and was 13% of the way through. Loving the story, which unfortunately is making me addicted and my other half grumpy about the amount of time i'm spending playing it.
Got it on xbox. Although the graphics aren't the best, and i can't get topdown-view, i'm enjoying it alot..
If you liked Oblivion, Baldurs Gate, Planescape etc you will love this. If you didn't like them you will still love this as it's a genius game. Probably the most immersive RPG I've ever played. The lore breaks all the elfy, dwarfy stereotypes and almost re-invents the genre.
It also gets a consistent 90+% on most reviews

QuoteThis is the most enormously detailed game world I've experienced, its history stretching back thousands of years, its cultures vivid, beautiful and flawed, the battles enormous, the humour superb. Roleplaying games now have a great deal to live up to.

QuoteBut any way you slice it, here's the fantasy RPG you've been waiting for, the one that will keep you up late at night, bleary-eyed, because you have to see what happens next. Like the best fiction, Dragon Age will sweep you up in its world, so much so that when you're done, you'll want to experience it all over again.

QuoteBioWare has delivered the goods once again--a top notch role playing game that is both challenging and compelling. No matter what your level of RPG prowess youââ,¬â,,¢ll find the perfect amount of gaming here, whether you prefer a cut to the chase hack and slash or a slow journey from one end of the world to the other; itââ,¬â,,¢s all available. One of the finest examples of the genre to come out in the last ten years, Dragon Age Origins is an instant classic that should be in every gamerââ,¬â,,¢s library.

QuoteDragon Age: Origins is a single-player game, with a nice online presence, but it does not offer multiplayer or cooperative gaming. Does that matter? Maybe to some. But for the true RPG gamer, this game is of a level that has never been seen before. It is the new benchmark. The story is rich and engaging, the characters are memorable, and the journey is one that pulls you in, captivates you and compels you to move forward toward the conclusion. You can replay the game and make different choices, altering your path and creating a different experience. The game can be emotionally draining, but it is the type of game that begs you to immerse yourself in the character you create and live the fantasy. This is indeed a game for the ââ,¬Ëœages.ââ,¬â,,¢

Ha! I think that was a positive review, although it's hard to tell when you watch Zero Punctuation :)
I just brought it from the steam sale looking forward to playing it :)
This is a stunning game despite EA trying their best to mess it up. The downloadable content has been a pain for me. I couldn't log in using my existing EA account. I thought I must have forgotten my password so reset it. Still couldn't log in though. I figured that the game was brand new and I'd give it a couple of days.
It was a strange problem though, I could log into the account online and resigter my DLC, but not log in through the game. It seemed to realise I was typing the right password in and would tell me sooner if it was wrong. If it was correct it would show me the user agreement wait for me to accept it and then tell me it was invalid.
Anyway, I got to a bit where it wanted me to download additional content and thought I should really fix this. Being 100% sure the account was working I tried changing the password to a solely alphanumeric one and it worked. There was no indication the password wasn't allowed that I could see. I simply said minimum of 6 characters. It also worked online so the servers could handle it. Just the game couldn't for whatever reason.
Anyway, if you have troubles logging in try a different password.
