Title: Lan prep.
Post by: sheepy on November 10, 2009, 10:11:48 PM
I know its a bit early to start stuff like this (as we have only just finished the last lan) but I would like to hear suggestions on how you would like the next lan to be.

RE -
competitions
organisation

I've bumped Thebhoy & Davemk to follow up on the potential sponsorship side of things.

I vouch for a L4D competition, rather then L4D2, as I have the feeling not everyone that has L4D also has L4D2.

As for the other regular competitions I have no further addition.

I'd say L4D2 has the majority now, but I'm prepared to be proved wrong by someone with numbers and maths and stuff...

We could always run both :D

comp wise we cant run both, there just wouldnt be enough time unless we drop one of the other established competitions, like CS or Degal

Hmm, that would be a shame.

I like the CS:S and Deagle a lot. 1 of the L4D editions it is then? :D

Yup we can only schedule one - and it has to be up to Benny and his admins to decide which variant  (even though he's not coming :crying:) .

Well, I can honestly say that I like the LANs the way they are. I don't see anything (realistic) changeable to really improve something.

well maybe one thing. I don't like the totally random team pickings.

What I like to see (and I can help with it ofcourse) Is a more realistic team management.

where we either seperate the good (and less experienced players), from the really good players, and then distribute those 2 groups of players randomly (like done before) over the 4 or more teams.

This too prevent one or 2 teams from having significantly more good players then other teams.
(better would be to have 3 pools, 1 for beginners/less experienced players, 2 for regulars or good players and 3 for the Duvels, Kregerons, Lees or Tox' under us ;) )

This way I hope there will be less walk overs, and more thrilling fights :)

An other way would be to distribute the players without picking them randomly. But this will be a lot more work so my preference would be like I described above.

just my 2 cents :)
