Title: Wireless audio from PC to Amplifier
Post by: Lexander on November 15, 2009, 07:17:22 PM
I have been thinking this for a while now and would like to hear some thoughts about it. The best solution would be a slimbox over WLAN but thats from 300 to over 1000 euros, so too much for me. And then again there are some RF equipment but I have read that the sound quality is just awful.
Now I found this: http://en.europe.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=209&subcategory=668&product=16186

Any suggestions or is that the only cheap possibility ?
And are there any cheap WLAN media centers ?

Lol I said squeezebox too Kreg, they are just alot of money considering the price of  mp3players. Transfer to an mp3 player thats plugged into your hifi?

:withstupid:

Wot he said.  I've had one for the last three years (a Slim Devices branded unit, before Logitech took them over).  It's currently streaming music to my amp from an Ubuntu box, but it worked equally well with the server software running on an XP based PC.

A lot of money for what it is?  Debatable.  You're paying for the quality of the DACs - and in that regard, it's a good bit of kit.

I've seen the duet as low as Ã,£150 on HUKD. But its not been on at that price for a long time.  Looks like a very nice bit of kit.  PC is always on when im playing music though in my room and is 2 mtrs from amp, so optical cable and winamp work better :D
