Title: Totems Auras & Replenishment
Post by: TeaLeaf on November 20, 2009, 10:04:16 AM
Just a note:

Totems & Auras need to be planned better by the shaman & paladins and then checked/monitored by the CLs to ensure they are being selected & deployed effectively.

Last night on Anub we had 4 shaman & 3 paladins, which is pretty much enough for full buffing.

-we had paladin BOW on the raid but only had 3 healing stream totems not 4
-we had no frost resistance aura or totem
-we had no nature resistance aura or totem (until I mentioned it on TS).

I usually see resist levels of each spell from Anub at about:

-Leeching Swarm (nature) of 30%, DMR saw 15%.
-Penetrating Cold of 39%, DMR saw 14% (admitedly healers in Eluo wear one piece of FrR gear which skews the numbers, but DMR's number is still too low).

....that's massive healing and resistance lost by not having the right totems/auras in place for the fight.

It was even worse on some other earlier fights where we had just one or two healing stream totems down, which when we have Gr BOW from a paladin is daft.  That's approx 8,250 healing per tick you are missing out for 15 people in the raid.

Replenishment really needs to be watched.  There was zero replenishment in the raid last night until it was mentioned and then a hunter swapped to SV for hunting party, but that only covers 10 people at a time.  I know you often have little choice as to who raids, but just try to keep an eye on which spec people use when they are in the raid to ensure that you get 2 people covering replenishment.  2 people will provide cover for 20 people and this is sufficient to cover all dps & healers.  Replenishment works and in 25 man raiding should be a default check before you start pulling.

The minor dps loss for a class providing replenishment (if any dps loss at all) is more than covered by the big increase in dps from the raid mana users and the the increased healing throughput from the healers.

How do you check this?
Can I recommend Utopia (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/utopia.aspx) for all CLs/RLs for DMR?  It is seriously handy for checking which debuffs/buffs are covered.  Just check out the detail given in the pictures on that Curse page.
