Not really a game but as I'm forum moderator I've graciously decided to let it go.... ;)
You might want to check out Time Commanders on BBC2 tommoz at 8pm.
It's another stab at war gaming on the TV. Interestingly it uses Creative Assembly's new Total War engine to show computer generated battles in real time. This will power their next game in the series "Rome - Total War" out this Xmas.
A team of four clueless idiots are given a mighty Roman army of elite units to play with. They then promptly send them to their doom in a series of moronic and totally pointless military guesturers. Then two Ubergeek experts explain how they balls'ed it all up.
Very nerdy but strangely compelling :)

...and that is different from real war how exactly? :(
Probably not a lot..............except that they get to play the side that won whatever historical battle the are re-fighting. So someone got it right at least once during history,
Still there is something oddly tragic about whatching a Management Accountant from Richmond ordering his archers out to take on 10,000 charging heavy cavalry when the've completely run out of arrows already :(
:lmfao:
Its quite a good program did u watch the first one 2 weeks ago they won that one, but last week i became so fustrated i had to change the channel bloody idiots. Might watch this one looks quite like a neat program.
I've seen the lot and the team playing Boudica was aweful, which made it more fun :norty:
I just watched a family of scots, get their caldonian army wiped out entirely
Are you sure its the engine Rome: TA is using? All the footage i've seen of Rome so far is all motion captured, and looks a damn sight better than the stuff of Time Commanders <_<
Check here (http://www.totalwar.com/casite/index.shtml)
It would appear so. It's the TW engine at least, if not the final version for the game.
The brief glimpses we get of the lieutenant's screens look remarkably like the standard total war interface.
Missed todays one was it good?
A family of Scots (Mum, Dad, Son & Daughter) played the Caladonians against the Romans.
They had 60,000 warriors against 30,000 Romans. But they threw away their cavalry in a suicidal flanking cahrge and split their forces so the Romans could take them on a chunk at a time. They never made their superior numbers count and got slaughtered.
To be fair they made pretty good stab at it and in reality to Caladonians got beat too.
Interesting that the son and daughter played the generals and the mum and dad were the lieutenants.
Oh what a Geek I have become
:D lol , only ever seem 1 team win so far.
