If we are to perform a bit better in matches, we'll need to at least learn the weapons and tactics. We are not going to do this playing in our present manner. Getting out of the dMw style of play has always proved to be difficult; It seems to me that we need to play a few games in the match mode.
How's about a "Down 'n Dirty" night on MH or Baldrick, where we play totally unrestricted as per matches?
Keep it restricted to registered players and PW the server, but announce it across the forum (we may attract some more players).
It would help us no end IMHO.
Opinions please
i agree..
We always get our butts kicked in matches, as we got no experience what so ever on that style of play... and i hoping for many more matches to come.
So yeah im up for the task of taking a night, go on boomer or baldric with registered users, and go crazy, so we can adapt, learn and prevail in the match style of play
Sounds like we had the ingame matches or at the LANs.
People were saying; You're out of bounds and I was saying; Check again, no boundaries.
I might be up for some matches again but Thursdays is a no go for me.
BTW, The thing was, practice before matches was allways good. I know people have vendord to other games (me included). Let's see if we can make it happen again.
Let me know the when and where and I'll try and help.
I'll have an AWP please Bob.......might even try to attend!
So just to make sure I am understanding this we are dropping the Tacticle play here? to become more competivite ?
if we enter a match and trying to play TCS, we will get raped.. period..
It is not as we will drop TCS, no no.. boomer will stay as it is.. we will have Dirty practise sessions, to get used to the match style of play.
OK just wanted to make sure I was on the say page as everyone!
I'm not proposing to change the rules we normally use, Just to have a practice session for members only (PW'd server) with Match Rules (ie. AWP, no boundaries etc.) in order to give us a fighting chance in matches.
I mentioned it to Kreg last week, and last night's slaughter confirmed we need to do something if we are to continue to play competitively.
If we announce a D&D night across the forum, we may attract new people or inspire some to return to CS. It will appeal to the frag-monkeys too, but maybe that's who we need for matches.
It goes against the grain but if we're going to play even vaguely competitively then we need a dirty night.
Putting it on the PW server is essential so that remains our dirty little secret.
Nice idea :thumbsup2:
P90 in the back
Suits me :D
I like it when you talk dirty Blunt!
I dont feel too much for competative playing, but I will be more than happy to join the PW servers and play for practise for matches! I like the idea, and it will spice it up a little this old CSS play.
Go for it!

I think that we need to becareful with this cause I seem to remeber that this sort of idea was put forward to pull more people in for CoD4 and it got booted out because it wasnt in the sprit of how we play.
I understand why we need to get back to compertition but I think that it might open a door we are not all wanting to enter. CoD4 could use this model to get competitive.
But it will be a bit strange wouldnt it from the new friends we make who turn up for a game and find we are not playing match rules.
Just a few ideas that popped into my head. I am all for getting us more competitive, just aware of past issues.
That's a valid point and we would have to be very careful to keep reiterating the fact that it's for matchplay practice only and not for general game-play.
I think most people would understand

When it is announced it will be made
very clear why we are doing this, and new friends can only get on with a PW and therefore will have read the announcement.
This is only being done for match practice, but we need some opposition so we need to announce it for all; If that means more people wanting to play matches, then that can only be a good thing.

:withstupid:
Blunt states it clearly, yes it goes agaisnt our way of play, but if we arent gonna hold these dirty training nights, then there isnt a reason for us to even play matches as we will without doubt get steamrolled like agaisnt MAG every single time..
But keep it on the down low, and make sure EVERYONE knows this is for practise purposes
