Title: STEAM and ARMA 2 and beta patching
Post by: sulky_uk on December 11, 2009, 11:32:24 AM
ok so im going a way for 3 months soon, so i thought now would be the best time to be a guina pig and see if we can get the beta patches in ARMA2 "the steam version"

So got the lastest beta, and ran the install- no issues
ran steam and started arma2... version is still 104.59026...still the same version :-(
went into the steamapps/common/arma2 folder and in there is now alittle shortcut called Launch Arma2 Beta Patch, moved this to my desktop
then clicked it and ran, version is now 104.60902 :yahoo:
and joined our server nee hassles at all

but never fear if you want to go back to orginal just use the steam shortcut as the arma beta is in a differant folder in the ARMA main folder

thought id share

if you have steam running and launch from the desktop using the beta shortcut steam still works as usual but as you havent used the steam shortcut it wont tell your mate(s) if you are in game. I was merely suggesting if after joining ts you find there is a game and you can if you wish exit steam and use arma 2 with out steam so that you can free up resources for this hogger

You could add the shortcut to steam as a Non-Steam game. That gives you all the chat functions and will show people you're in game too.
