I'm looking to buy a spare TV primarily for the kids to use in a spare room from time to time.
Requirements:
-1080p for bluray playback
-decent Wii picture for kids gaming
-a freeview tuner built in would be nice but not essential
-about 32" screen size (widescreen)
I was thinking LCD at this level, but am open to suggestions if someone finds a real gem.
Budget will be small for this project! I'm aiming to hit these specs for Ã,£300 somewhere in the Christmas Sales but I have yet to find the deal!
Any suggestions or has anyone come across this deal already?
Might be worth checking here (http://www.richersounds.com/product/lcd-tv/samsung/le32b350/sams-le32b350):
For best pic on a lcd tv you will need to compersit (sp) cable for wii. You can pick one up for about Ã,£6 on amazon.co.uk
Hope it helps.
I've got one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-TX-L32G10B-32-inch-Widescreen-Freesat/dp/B00268AHIO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1260313661&sr=8-1
A full 1080p screen for the blu-rays, and it's got a 100hz refresh rate so the gaming is excellent.
It really is outstanding :)
Aye I like the Panasonics, my main TV is a Panie plasma, the one linked blows the budget somewhat! Would love one for Ã,£300 though :P
There's 40" Sonys and Panasonics going for Ã,£400 at the mo, if you're already spending Ã,£300, whats another Ã,£100!? All being advertised on main TV channels, COMET that sort of place...

Sorry for hijacking - could you possibly find a pic of this? I have a Wii and still learning all this stuff. I have a phono jack deal/scart, like back in the days. What cable are you referring to?
There's 50% off lots of tellies at John Lewis. May be worth a look as their standard 5-yr warranty is tasty.
Eventually went for a Sony bluray (Ã,£79) and a Tosh 32" 1080p for Ã,£329. Ã,£30 over the budget set for the telly, but sorted and to be delivered in a couple of days. Found loads of older panels on sale with low contrast or only HD Ready not 1080p, but this one seems to fit the bill.
where did you buy them from?
Nice one.
Off topic a bit - can Blu Ray play normal dvd's?
yeah, most bluray players will have a dvd laser in there so can play dvd's too

I bought them via the dMw affiliate Amazon shop linked atop this page!
