Title: 10man suggestions
Post by: Pandizar on January 07, 2010, 12:26:48 PM
With the growing interest of guild led ICC10 runs. Im starting to feel bad when were left in the position of taking the 3 best healers for 1 run.

From next reset I would like to propose that we arrange semi static groups, of course this relies on us having at least 4 (plus 2 dual-spec) healers and 4 tanks available on the night

Lets put our heads together, ask non guild-friends or anyone in guilds struggling to group for ICC10. Even though I know were not locked to going in guild groups for 10man its hampering all our progress by not.

Any suggestions on good nights for certain people, general availability/willingness, names. would be really helpful.

Otherwise we get a situation where the same 5 members are going every week and the same 15 dps don't.

Being honest this happened even before you joined DMR we had the same problem with Ulduar, we had the same 10 people going in week after week because they were the only ones Interested in doing and eventually clearing Ulduar....

In hindsight to what you're suggesting i felt (when i was leading them Ulduar runs most nights) that with the same band of people you adjusted to their playstyles and molded as a group and became better players from that experience.

But feel free to try it :) I for one would love to help you out on Gaebora - Pref DPS but can heal - Wednesday / Friday nights are generally good for me

EDIT: Agree'd with Bell, about off nights, forgot to mention that

the problem with it is that its run a on a off night, it might be a idea oto introduce the 2x10 man grp like we have when we were run uld and toc at the start, on main raid night more people turn up.

I do kinda think it comes down to what Jim says about  people being;

"Interested in doing and eventually clearing".

TOC gave everyone a taste of extremely casual raiding,  ICC is a winged raid dungeon which even on 10man is way more challenging than TOC ever was and will lnot be completed in 1 night or 1 week. This is why I'd prefer to get some names, days and idea's about who we have on paper before the next reset so we can make a settled group instead of pretending were being fair to everyone and then letting them down on the night.

I was trying to suggest last night that grp make up wise we could probably scrape by with the following

2x Tanks (1 with good dps offspec)

2x Well specced main heals

1x Off healer/Caster dps

2x caster dps

3x Melee Dps

1x Ranged (or caster if no ranged avail)

that to me is dream team for in ICC due to the quite strict mechanics for certain fights and also creates a good balance as far as group buffs and classes goes.

Surely we can get 2 grps about for this on an off night ! or ask/beg/borrow or even pug the last coupla slots.

Agree with all comments made.

I also think that 10man runs should be run for everyone who insists they are ready to raid 25man ICC. Which I think the 10man runs will greatly help people learn the bosses. And get them geared up too!!

Oh also whilst we are at it, ICC10 man rep runs for the ashen rings! Can go in with a tank couple of healers and rest DPS to get rep up quick. Doesn't lock you to the instance because you're not killing a boss and you can just go out and reset to kill them as many times as you want before you get bored.

Mind you, running 3 main raids per week might be all some people are able to commit. And i myself will not be running 4-5-6 nites a week for more then a few weeks, its just too much.

Agreed all over, and i do think that putting calendar entries was really good so us socials can also come. Some of us socials are pretty excellent geared tbh ;)

I agree/disagree We had the same group doing Ulduar 10 mans learning tactics progressing well on loot, but we also had many occasions when 4-5 people had to sit out/ were not selected.

As some of these runs seemed to select on gear (obviously u need tank healz) the problem perpetuated as only those doing the 10 mans had gear new tactics etc..

There was a distinct lack of patience on some 25 man runs re tactics with players who were new to the content when facing it on 25 man.
I don't think we should question commitment because of that..
As a guild it would be nice if we could all get a go for loot tactics etc.....

That is the probelm in my opinion,,,not sure of the solution will we fall into the same trap ?

Sorry Jimzy my darling <3 but i disagree with the only ones that were interested bit, I joined about DMR that time and logged on religiously each week and the same people got a spot, I think I went a handful of times and that was either as a replacement or I was just damned lucky once - I know this is true for others as we had convo's about it at the time.

I think a couple of balanced groups would be great as it gives more people the experience and also would take the 25 man group to a much higher lvl gear wise as well as XP wise - that imo was one of the probs with ulduar 25 tictacs and gear.

Happy to come along (depending on dumb trains and getting home in time).

I'm usually available on Wednesday and Friday, as i were for the ulduar 10 pioneer group (can still remember those nights on general vezax at 3 o'clock in the morning :boxing:).
Anyway, we're going much better on 25 then we were during the ulduar 25 progression, at least in my opinion.
