Hey guys,
Just extracted that from /2 chat, installed and checked: Elitist Group addon. Very nice replacement for GearScore. It shows much more than only gear(however shows average iLvl), it checks if gear is choosen aprioprietly, gems / ecnh etc. In addition in same window whole player history can be checked regarding experinece: 5-10-25 man done, how many times / achieves. Last but not least thing i love is note / score you can set on player, which can be of course shared with other addon users - great!
You can get it here: Curse (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/elitistgroup.aspx)
Enjoy!
Mat
P.S. I still use GS simply because it let me quick overlook my grp / raid with just player tooltip, however for pug setup from scratch EG seems perfect.
Thanks, ill give it a go
yeh, EG is great but try not to use both GS and EG at the same time, EG wont work properly then.
Oh goodness, another blight on the free world.
The problem with these addons is the tendence of some idiots to substitute the ES/GS for common sense. Those that do invariably seem to have an IQ somewhere close to single figures. However did we manage when we did heroics in blues and our first raids without epics. Yes, raids with blues, we did it, we survived and we learnt.
The real funny thing is that the biggest proponents of GS seem to be the ones who only just got the 'the achievement' two days ago and they are using it to screen potential raid members to try to ensure that the rest of the raid is good enough to cover for their own inadequacies.
It is a blight on the game. Get rid of it please.

Have to agree with TL.
Every idiot with to much free time on their hands can get the finest loots and all the achievements (well, atleast most of it). That won't give you an indication of their skills. Hell I've out dpsed many shamans with better gear in pugs, just by effort alone (and some class understanding ofc.). Only, I don't give a rats behind about achievements, I don't like em, they add no value to the game, it only leads to more ego trippers.
This addon is kinda the same, mediocre gear in the right hands, can and will do better then random punks with top gear.
Such a shame really, MC in blues (and even green fire-res gear lol) that was great, that was a challenge, a thrill, something WoW will never gain again I'm afraid :(
In my opionion, they should go back to the roots, start all over, as their next expansion suggests, cataclysm. Give epics their rightful status again, and bring back the value of blues again.
(and blizzard, please, hire some real graphic artists, to come up with new gear, that suits the charactar, and not make em look like toy puppets, or even gay toons ><)
Guys, all you say is great, when you live in perfect world, raid / play only with guildies, who are great players with amazing skills. But sometimes some of us has this (un)pleasure to do something in pug(s). Than since you cannot check anybody skills just in few seconds, you can inspect his/her gear / experience in raids / dungeons etc. Than those addons come handy.
And about IQ: yes some ppl around arent the smartest, but hey, im talking about me and anything what I could use to improve my life, using my own brain.

I hear what you say but have to disagree. I run 8+ random daily heroics almost every day and pure PUG many raid instances for the weekly raid quest on the same toons. So I reckon I have as much pure PUG experience as anyone, if not more than the average.
It's not the addon I am concerned by, it's the blanket screening method applied by an idiot minority without understanding the methodology or the importance of other factors. That and of course the unbelievable rudeness of said minority ("5k GS or no reply"). For example I can across a seriously nasty DK the other day with quite decent i245 gear. The fact that his talent build was abysmal, his gems and enchants all wrong was the warning sign, not him failing a GS test which might have shown him scoring quite well.
For me I tend to look at the toon's build, gems, enchants, glyphs as my first point of call. People's ability to set their toon up right is shown initially by that and if it is right then the chances of the toon being played well goes up dramatically.
I understand your point of view, but... Not everybody is that great to be aware of proper druid healer build for example, when playing mostly melee dps classes. So EG goes down right way, showing much more than average gear lvl (which is usefull too, just as quick overview), for ppl who woudnt know if somebodys build / gear choice/ enchant are fine or not.
I woudnt like to be rude TL, but have you installed it and checked at all?
To sum up: all im saying is using addon which does hard work of checking armory for every player is handy. When i see tank with 3500gs I know in advance that i need to watch my dps due to aggro issue.
However anybody shouting "XXX gs or f... o...", is simply idiot whos going straight to my ignore list. Thats all.

QFT. Unfortunately that's directly what GS has triggered and that's the bit I hate. It's right up there with 'achievement' and 'stats' being asked for.
This addon acctually does check the gems for you and sums them up in a nice way, you still have to check the talents yourself though.
EG got a rating system that the players control by rating other players they meet and play with, and not by summing up the gear they are using.
And tbh i think the two digit IQ ppl wont be using this one as much as GS and this one is alot better.

This. Addons like GS and this one are retarded because they say absolutely squat over the player, just give a statistical overview. A proper use is definetly there, the vast majority of players however abuses addons like these and make the game less fun for others. I would not be suprised - and am actually hoping for it - if Blizz would ban these addons because players get a reduced chance of seeing content because of them.
In my opinion none of those addons is bad! If ppl use those in retarded way, thats their problem. If you ban anything, it will be passed round anyway. And tell me: if guild recruiting raiders is asking them to use certain lvl gear does proper thing, why somebody forming pug ("little" short lasting "guild" we could say) isnt allowed to do similiar selection??? Why expecting some lvl of preparation is so bad? Some time ago when such addons didnt exist raid leaders alt-tabbed to Armory and checked ppl anyway. And so on......
So lets be honest: addons are to make life easier, and never agree that ppl abusing some of them make them bad. No wai!
BTW: Do you need hint *which* guild is an example of such above requirement? :P

Then you'd be wrong. Eluo prefer's fully geared people, but we're looking for the skilled button mashers and recently took on two people who had not raided WotLK. We have yet to reach for the GS3000 button.
I think you're both right, but the problem with the addon is that because the addon produces a computerised number then people believe it as absolute truth. They then fail to understand what level is reasonable for any 'requirement' they wish to set - as evidenced by GS requirements exceeding the max possible GS score from that instance level loot.
I see things from both sides in this case. However i do believe that checking gearscore, is a helluva lot better than just admitting a random player in a fairly complicated raid. I did icc10 last night with people checked by gearscore and invited by friends, and it was a really good raid. No whiners, no quitters, just normal raiders who was doing the 10 man version.
So agreed, gearscore is not the new black, do it does really help sort some of the less fortunate clever players in the raids.
Since I got kicked out of a random group because "omg" I did "only 30 dps! Look it's in the meters" after a wipe that I saw coming hence Feign Deathed, because the leader who uttered above words was looking at Last Fight statistics (and I had been comfortably topping overall DPS data), I'm not so eager to say that addons make life easier :narnar:

Garrit, it's not the instrument fault, is the user that makes it work right or wrong. If the user is cluelesst, the result may go against the utility of the tool itself. This happens not just in wow, but in everything in real life, and history has already shown most important examples. Anyway on topic, when you're kicked like that, i think you'll agree with me saying that you are better off those pitiful raids than in.
I know Tirk, it was only a joke :P
The sad thing is though, there's no being better off not in groups like that, because a majority of the groups are like that pre-80. Either that or I've been really unfortunate.
