I have just put a new Hdd into my pc and installed all the usual stuff,
but I'm having a nightmare with my CoD profile.
My old C: drive is still in the pc and has all my backups on it (I also have a backup on a stick.
I have tried to copy over my profile from both back-ups, both as a folder and individual files;
but everytime I start the game, it says there was an error and my stats are reset.
when I go back to the profile folder, my mpdata file has been renamed mpdata.corrupt and a new mpdata is there.
I'm googling for an answer, but it'd be good if anyone can help.
are you running windows 7? i had a few problems when copying my profiles over after installing windows 7 bit cant say i received an error message, it just wouldnt display my profiles and wanted me to create a new one.

No, I'm on XP.
I'm having to play on the old Hdd atm.
Sorted:D
Turned out I had used Tox's key instead of mine when I installed on my new Hdd:doh:
So it was rejecting my backup as the keys were different.
To change the key I did the following:
Run/ regedit
QuoteGo to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, and then go to software. Click on Activision and then Call of Duty 4.
Click on on codkey. Make sure that it is the key that came with your game. If not, right click on codkey and then click on modify. Type in your CD-Key.
numpty.. :p glad you figured it out.
Congratz on figuring it out :) See you tonight :D
