I have tonight confirmed our booking with the chinese restaurant for the Saturday evening at 8.00pm. We will have one complete area of the restaurant for our use and if previous meals at that restaurant are anything to go by then it should be a great evening.
- The restaurant do a vegetarian menu - please let me know if you are herbivorous and require a vegetarian meal on this night.
As for the omnivores amongst us, may I suggest that we use a fixed price menu? This should avoid the usual 55 minute delay whilst everyone decides what they want etc and stop us double ordering etc. The restaurant has suggested the following:
- Fixed price menu for £18 per head.
- Mixed Platter Starter (mixture of everything, eg ribs, sesame prawn toast, pancake rolls, seaweed, satay etc).
- Second Course - Aromatic Duck
- Main Course - Selection of Rice, Noodles, Vegetables plus a selection of at least 8 main dishes including Chicken, Pork, Beef and Prawn.
- From previous experience portion size was not an issue with this restaurant - they looked after us well!
What I need to know is:
- Does a fixed menu seem OK to you?
- Is the price per head acceptable? Please feel free to PM me if wish to comment privately.
As regards the specifics of which main course dishes will be served:
- Please let me know if you have any specific preferences for main course dishes - otherwise I will organise it directly withthe restaurant on your behalf.
I do not wish to *push* anyone into accepting this menu. However I believe a fixed price menu is the right way to deal with a party of our size. If anybody has any problems or questions regarding this then please let me know.

Wot He Said
looks fine to me TL
its always been fine so far, and if some one doesnt like a bit on the fixed menue just dont eat it, coz theres plenty other stuff to eat
There's always plenty to eat when you order 30 set meals, but somehow you always see something over the other side of the table that looks nice but you know will never make it over your side until the plates empty.
Sounds great TL!
No probs for me TL. "bring em on" :narnar:
woo! :dribble:
looking good :)
Yummy :P
No probs from me, the fixed menu for £18 sounds spot on ...............we always get an excellent meal there :dribble: :dribble:
(not like the guys who went for an Indian last time )!

I subscribe to the conspiracy theory that the local tong were holding Indian waiters and cooks hostage until such time as all the Chinese meal customers were served. Then they let them go. On that basis, I opt for Chinese.
NP
Nice one.
w00t.... lots of duck for all
so is there still a bunch of us going to for indian? i cant remember if i put indian or chinese. But seeing as the majority of the clan are going chinese, im going chinese as well.
It seems those who had indian last time were mostly disapointed.... so it was the concensous that as we go to the LAN to socialise and the chinese resturant is just SO DAMN GOOD!!!! we decided to all go for the same meal.
Trust me, the chineese is very good and food floweth plenty.
Good score on the prices TeaLeaf!!
food floweth plenty? you forgot the beer! :dribble:
Cool :dribble:

TeaLeaf, can you put me down (not literally) for a vegetarian option!
If it is too much trouble I can just eat the veggie bits from the set meal, but does that mean I get a discount ;) :D
Ha Ha see I'm not the only one. And when the bill comes round make damn sure there's none of this lets split it 30 ways for easy sake...oh and split the drinks bill too. You can all bugger off, I only pay for what I eat and drink and not a penny more you hear me, not a penny more....

Pay for the drinks you order, as you go. Could get out of hand otherwise.

Why would you order drinks then go?
Seems silly to me :)
To solve this conundrum that has appeared in an Uncle Fester-like manner, I would suggest that I provide the restaurant with a sheet of A4 listing all of your player names. You can then order drinks on your own tab and settle as you exit.
As for the food, a set menu is a set menu whether it is vegetarian or not, it is £18 per head unless the restaurant tells me otherwise. The only discount I can confirm for the vegetarians is that we have assumed you won't eat any of our meat dishes.
TL.
Joking aside, as long as they bung in a couple of fish dishes (not actually a proper veggie at all am I) I'll be happy. I'm sure what with this being the forth LAN that splitting the drink bill has been well sorted by now.
I was just just glad to see I'm not the only skinny anemic veggie weedybag going to the LAN. ;)

Good one. Oh, and haha BlueBall, very droll.
we've never had seperate drink tabs before. Can you imagine the chaos of 35 blokes trying to settle their bill at the end of the meal??
What about the people who dont like the kacky chinese beer and settle for coke?? should they pay for everyone elses drinks??
we've not had any pansey coke drinkers at the chineese before.... so I guess the question has never been asked. Usually by that time of the night it dont matter what it is so long as it has alcohol.

That'll be Tsingtao then.
http://www.tsingtaobeer.com/ (http://www.tsingtaobeer.com/) if you want to mentally psyche yourself up for a chinese beer hangover ;)
Even sweeter. They show you how to pronounce it!
