Title: MP3 , adding more ifo to files
Post by: spudgun55 on January 31, 2010, 11:32:21 AM
Just a quick question in regards adding more details to a mp3 file, for example in itunes i seem to be collecting more and more tunes that are only numbered, with no artist, song name, album name,   has anyone used any such programes that allow a quick and easy solution to add missing fields :g:

Since Windows Vista you can select mutliple files and then edit properties such as album and artist, when saving, all files are updated with the same info.  Doesn't help with track name of course but you can still do that one by one.

Right click file and Properties will get you to the individual files properties.  I believe you can select all and still Right click and do properties also.

I use MP3 Tag studio it's fully features and free (with a small banner).

There are a number of ID2/3 tag editors around though.

A good one can:
Rename all songs from tags according to a user defined template eg: - or . etc.
Mass set Tag every song in a folder with the same artist and album name.
Tag from Filename
Remove unwanted info from tags (eg comments etc).

I've used some that can find artwork from online for you too, but it's generally low quality and it is better if it you get a nice 200x200 pic and do it yourself.

I agree Mp3tag is the daddy, you can use all sorts of sources to get the track info, including Amazon.com, .de, FreeDB etc. You can also choose the entry you want to apply to the tags for the album as opposed to some that decide for you.

Of course if you were ripping your own CDs or downloading after paying they'd already be in the same format anyways :p (said with tongue most definately in cheek)
